Title: Bought this Ceriatone used Post by: stonevibe on July 06, 2010, 08:19:13 PM Hi there everyone, I just bought this amp used and wanted to get some info on it. I'm presuming its a JMP45 clone? I have a 2x12 cab which is 50w and wanted to know if it'll handle this amp head okay? As I haven't got a band rehearsal to next week and there is no way I can turn it up in my house as its FAR to loud...

The amp looks more like the Plexi50 from outside. BUT, the same faceplate is used for Plexi50 bass, and the JTM50. The JTM45 would have a different faceplate. Best way is to open and take pics of insides, to see what it is, circuit wise. Or if it was a kit, or done by us. Abt speaker = yeah, thats true. A G12H is abt 25W ea, so thats abt 50W in a 2x12. When pushed, the amp does exceed that, sometimes it's doing more like 70W or so. But if you dont push em that hard that often, it'd be good. I heard good things abt WGS speakers too, their celestion clones. Would be good to check out those... Thanks! So haven't had a chance to turn her up to my usual level. In the house though at low volumes its hard to tell, however the clean tone is very responsive and feels good with lots of full sounding note definition. Really looking forward to turning it up with my band though.

Aren't you the guys that made/make the original Matchless transformers? I would love to see a guy like you on this forum. I wish you and your Father all the best of course, but it would be nice to get the opinion, of a guy like you, about the transformers that Ceriatone uses. I went to their web sight, and I was pretty impressed by what I read. I realize that there is not just ONE transformer company that will always be the best choice for all amplifiers. But it would be nice to see Nik's trannies get some recognition. I guess it's the same situation as with all the capacitor wars, there is no way to tell unless you would do a Blind Test with a Ceriatone OT. I can't help but think, in a blind test, that a lot of players would be surprised by how good a Ceriatone OT sounds. I don't mean to ramble on, but there has been some shameful badmouthing, via INTERNET forums, regarding Ceriatone products. Anyway..... it is nice to see the name TD&S again.
