Hey ive got a couple of questions for those who have them already if you dont mind taking time away from what looks to be an incredible amp to answer 

1. Clean channel. How does it fare? Im running a Ceriatone DC30 at the moment which im thinking about replacing with the Stray Cat so it has quite a bit to live up to. I understand they were both designed by the same guy so they will be similar. Does the brilliance knob combined with the sag switch allow you to dial in a broad range of clean sounds? One gripe i had with the dc30 was that it was bright no matter what I did, which i did expect. It would be nice if id be able to warm/darken up the cleans a tad more running the stray cat but be still be able to have that gorgeous chime. Also can you crank it and cop SRVesque broken up cleans?

2. Gain channel. Ive read everywhere it does modern gain well. How well does it do filthy vintage bluesy marshall tones ala hendrix? If this could approximate a modern boogie vibe while going close to those old school tones with a good clean channel id be in heaven. Also, how about a modern satriani peavey high gain sound?

3. What kind of tubes did the amp ship with/are you running now?

4. What cab/speakers are you using atm?

Sorry if I sound demanding with all these questions, this sounds like my dream amp and im really excited about getting one! I cant afford to have more than 1 amp (student here) and this looks like it would cover everything i play and way more. Im not needing to cop the above tones exactly, but if it can get me in the ballpark using the right axe id be very pleased

I'm currently running new stock Svetlana 12AX7's & EH EL34's.  I've tried a few different tubes in V1 and depending on what's in there it will get a little darker/warmer (I expect that will be the case with JJ's).  The amp's heritage is always there though - the clean channel has a modern feel to it.  The brilliance will take some of the edge out of it.  I think the clean channel sounds great with my SG in the middle position, and will do a spanky bluesy clean in the neck position, especially if you push the volume up a bit (and the volume isn't too much).

I'm running it through my V30 2x12 at the moment.  I actually like it better through my Eminence Red Fang cab - more balanced & articulate.  Something like a G12H30 or a Greenback might be a better option if you want a little darker tone.  I've also tried it with my Weber Thames loaded 2x12 (70's Fane "purpleback" clones) and it's a little too "hi-fi" for my taste, especially on the gain channel.

With all that said, the amp is more relaxed in low power mode.  It's a very different feel. 

Depending on what rectifier tube you use it could make a difference also.  Different tubes will deliver different B+ voltages.  I currently have a JJ in mine and the tube recto B+ voltage is close to the SS recto.  The tube recto mode is somewhat softer/saggier, but not a whole lot.  With a different tube the difference may be more pronounced.
