Thank You for vid`s (both of)! Nice amp and nice playing too. I like very much. Do You get distorted/overdrive sounds with PPIMV in "bedroom levels", without stompboxes? How does PPIMV affect sound (increace flabbyness or something else)?
Thanks!
I use the PPIMV to play at bedroom levels if I want crunch, for modern high gain solos you need a pedal in any case.
It does change the tone of course because the more you engage the PPIMV, the more the preamp tubes are distorting and you get more of that buzzy gain that is generated by them.
However the gain is LOADS better than the one I had on my Marshall JCM800 at low volume with the gain turned up and the master volume turned down...that was really buzzy.
In my video with the Strat I demo the PPIMV by turning it up until full up...then I turn the amp channel volume up.
The tone you can hear (taking into account it was recorded by a crappy camera mic) is the sound with the amp cranked and the PPIMV acting as an attenuator. Not bad at all IMHO.
I also use the PPIMV when I am playing small clubs because otherwise i'd have to keep the amp volume at 0.1! :-))
I can certainly reccomend this option.
Hope that helps.
