Wow I had to login after forever to say how nice your work are! Look at those cabs! Can't wait to see the amp done, subscribed!

Grin Cool Build! Nice Cab! Didn't know they still come in white chassis like mine (2012)

What did lowering the voltage do to the tone /response of the amp? I've been investigating this for a long time now. Thanks.
3  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Lead dress and placement in the chassis or Why Does This One Sound So Good? on: May 29, 2013, 06:34:56 AM
Are we talking both channels?

I wanna see the heater wire dressing please!

Interesting.

Hey I know he uses multiple amps together and eventually would like to get a Marshall, it's just the overtone is going cheap.

I do like other tones other than bonamassa, like John mayers tone.

I was thinking that the overtone with a tube screamer would be a good start. Seen as it says that this is a modded version and get good gain.

I went this way for bonamassa ie D style amp and mashally pedal. It worked out better imho cause its easier to replicate a good marshall tone with a pedal, much harder to get D style bloom from a pedal. And if you do it expensive ie Zen or Dumkudo or Ethos running up to several hundred bucks vs marshal clone pedals at $150 ish.

my 2c

oh and you wont get close to Mayer with a Marshall

I am extremely happy that I got one of Henry's cabs. They're perfect.

Any new cab runs Henry?

Wow that looks really neat and almost like delicious to eat.

Thanks, yes it should be tons of enjoyment as long as you know  what youre doing heheh which i suppose what this forum is for.

Took me a laid back 2 months but that was because my output tranny was delayed. Had time to read 50 pages of this forum. Didnt need to read TAG. Felt lazy tommake an account.

I wish i did my heaters above as high as yours . Mine is like hanging midway between the bottom and the cab ceiling but I realize yours would be farther from the signal leads which is goog I suppose.

Nice work so far sir. I love build threads.
9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Can I Use The OTS as a Preamp on: March 03, 2013, 07:07:05 PM
Can I use my OTS preamp for my pg 48 mic for a vocal recording session? Like can I plug the mic to the input then connect the preamp out to my PC audio interface? Its a M Audio Delta 44. I read I need some kind of preamp to make the sound of the dynamic mic acceptable.

Thanks Yo

Hi Captain,
Couple of suggestions: definitely change 150k resistor to 100k or less on X-line after 0,005mf cap. This would open a drive tone and volume.
Reduce drive gain a bit with the trim pot.
If you increase X-line’s 0,005mf cap to 0,01mf, drive will have more bass on it but try first above mod without cap change.
Also, if you increase big filter cap’s capacitance (add more capacitors) it will tighten amps overall bass response a little bit.
Cheers.

Sounds great thanks as always! Btw I have the bigger filter caps already. I still havent got around to changing the slope or the drive mods.

Would this mean that using an OTS with a 240v PT in a 220v contry isn't ideal? As in it would have a tendency to sound dull or lifeless?

Nik once emailed me about this concern. He said it doesn't matter and my country also peaks at 240v+ anyway.

Thanks for these new findings, definitely worth investigating. I did notice some amp "moods"

I don't use the Deep (mid boost) switch on my OTS for any guitar or application. The sound is already full/

Dr. Ika,

I echo everything GuitarHack said abou the good changes due to the v1 mod.

Though

I am still wondering if all the fatness introduced contribute to the "fartiness" in the drive channel.

Would your drive stage mods fix that? Where those conceived particularly to compensate for the v1 changes? Or not necessarily?

Thanks again!
I am about 50% more driven to play gigs because of my amp.
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: BM JM Mod on: December 05, 2012, 12:36:55 AM
Yes I think you're right. Next time I have an opportunity I'll try and see the headroom of the input vol. In mid december I'm playing a big hall. I hope I can bring this and a 1x12. Basically it like carrying the rig into a mall.
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How to get rid of some Stiffness on: December 05, 2012, 12:33:16 AM
Anybody know much about Output Transformers? I have some impressions and assumptions on how ot's affect tone and respone in an amp based on thing I read and my little experience. Please correct me if im wrong;

1. More efficient OT's give great non flubby drive sound but makes the clean sound brittle or stiff because of fast attack

2. All upgrade OT's or the ones that are revered are supposedly more efficient

3. Upgrading to a *larger OT is different that upgrading to a mercury magnetics or such... If so, how?

3.5. Are Dumbles in general less snappy? Cause I think I really cannot get the chirp out of my strat. I used to play a thin sounding BJr but at least its snappy on sincle coils. Could it be my solo g12 65? My upgrade OT? Or do you disagree that D style amps aren't snappy? Sorry for some repeated questions from back in this thread.

4. What is the 'effin difference with "punch" and "attack"? How do they relate to "compression" cause to me those are opposites and you know, some people and even musical instrument companies use the words punch and compression together to describe one product and it baffles me. Also with chirp and snap, could you have compression only or punch only. both? I would say if you have snap and chirp you have compression. When you have punch, ...no actually now I have no ide what punch is. Its veryy ambiguous and overused to my ear.
15  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: BM JM Mod on: November 30, 2012, 12:08:09 PM
I think you're right. It hard to tell I'm clashing with the drummer based on just one session where volume is even restricted. Yes, to be able to compare with Mayer, you have to have the same role as him.

Yesterday I got to fire my ots way up in my friend's rooftop. I found where on the master it breaks up. On just about 3 the clean breaks already with my strat but its loud at that point. I didn't get to try to push the preamp volume to see if I could still get more clean power. Will it work that way anyway? I'm not sure if its my small 1x12 g12 65 though. But if that's power stage breakup, its muddy and quite undefined.
