1  Muchless / DC 30 / Someone please help.... on: December 23, 2010, 08:31:28 AM
So I have a Dizzy 30 that I bought from Nik and recently the volume cuts in and out and then I end up frying one of the resistors by the 12ax7 tubes.  so far its only been on the "lightning" side that I fry them.  I mean I've literally had smoke come out of the amp.  I took it to a tech who thought it was a phase invertor tube but we switched the tube, everything was working fine and then bam....again tonight, mid gig, the sound started cutting in and out and then smoke came out of the amp.  used the ef86 side and it was all good...any thoughts?

I have a DC30 on the way and I contacted Mike at kcanostubes.com  and he suggested the Dario Miniwatt ef86 as the least microphonic,  the NOS Jan GE 12AX7WA's, and the NOS RCA 5V4GA's as tubes to get.  I'm gonna stick with JJ's in the EL's for now.  I don't know what your price range is but I just thought I'd share the ones I'm gonna get based on Mike's recommendations.
