31  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Anyone tried a TIM pedal into their BM? on: September 16, 2012, 11:56:16 PM
Thanks for the feedback guys,

Was really digging the Hendrix/SRV tones the TIM was producing in Jacks clips.

Might have to bite the bullet and place an order with Paul C

....and a klon clone as well?
33  Ceriatone / Overtone / Anyone tried a TIM pedal into their BM? on: September 16, 2012, 11:34:26 AM
Hi all,

I've been looking for a pedal for my light OD needs for the strat, and saw some of Jack Zuckers YouTube clips of the TIM and was very impressed. I've read some discussions that the TIM don't work well with amps that have scooped mids.

Checking to see if anyone here has any first hand experiences with a TIM pedal into their ceriatone bluesmaster and have any feedback?

Tim pedals are readily available here is Australia, so trying one in person isn't really an option.

This is the power tubes that you had rebiased?

I'm actually starting to notice that my cleans starting to get overdriven also.....don't think it was overdriving with the preamp gain at 7 before.... Might have to retweak....just haven't had time.

All credit to Stephen for sharing the advice on the RCA and thanks man, could not be happier!

I have the WET v2 and it's a great pedal. Digital ot not, it has an amazing quality to it and is on my board right now. It won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I might try the RCA in v2 again .....

Glad it's worked out for everyone that's tried the RCA short gray plate.

Exactly as homes mentioned, previously the BM only liked humbuckers, but now it's lovin the single coils on the cleans and OD. Couldn't believe how well it responded with the RCA!

I'm stocking up on RCAs and Jan Philips 5751 at the moment

Further update on this journey of mine with the BM,

So I've changed the V1 to a RCA grey plate, and have now change the V2 to a Jan Philips 5751, leaving the sovtek 12ax7lps in V3. Stock JJ in place of the 6L6s.

This has done it, perfect cleans with smooth smooth Dumble type OD. Couldn't be more happier! Amazing how responsive this amp is to tube rolls. It's completely changed the character of the OD, while I can still get those prestine cleans. A very very happy BM here! This amp is everything I wanted it to be! I think all my tweaking is done for a while and I think I'll just sit back and play instead of tweaking the amp.

For a while, I was so displeased with the OD that I bought a zendrive 2 to get those dumble tone, but I don't see a need for it anymore as the amp does it so much better and is more dynamic. It will probably come off my board now and be up for sale. Best thing is that the OD doesn't need to be turned up very high to hit the sweet spot anymore

Tried it without the foot switch? Try making sure that the switch at the back of the amp for the foot switch is turned on. I've had to unplug and plug it back in to gt it going again in the past.
39  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Anyone Using a Zendrive (or derivative) with Their C-Tone? on: August 25, 2012, 06:14:38 AM
I have a zen2 which I use. While the pedal is great, I'm in two minds if I should take it off my board. Agree that it doesn't clean up as well as an OCD which I also have

Glad it's working out for you! Much quicker than it did for me. Yeah, the OD does get much better once broken in some
41  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM Bluesmaster setup advice on: August 20, 2012, 12:49:27 PM
I'm actually so pleased with the results that I've ordered another pair of RCAs lol

100w Bluesmaster HRM built by Ceriatone.  Running it sans cabinet because the Sourmash cabinet does not fit the chassis.  They forgot to allow for the side screw heads.  No response from Sourmash either.  Ordering a new cabinet from Henry.

Ran the BM HRM through a EVM12L and this amp has clean all day long.  The OD is fizzy so I need to work on that and see I need to adjust the HRM trimmers as the OD trimmer sounds best down low with volume up.

Still messing around before I can post anymore.

Mark

Mark,

Lots of folk find the OD on the BM fizzy at first.  It really is important to give it some time to break in.  Also, I'd recommend doing some tube rolling if you haven't already.  ANOS RCA 12ax7 blackplate in V1, good quality new production Tung-Sol in V2 will get you 50% of the way there.  The rest is making sure you ease off of the gain pot on the back (it doesn't really add more gain, just fizz).  I have the same amp and I never run my gain knob higher than 9 o'clock.  I use Alnico V's though, so your experience may differ.  These two things, plus the break-in, will get really help to eliminate the fizz.  If that doesn't work, hit the HRM trimmers.  I wouldn't do this, though, until the amp has properly broken in, since the character will change until that point.

Hope this helps.

Stephen

Stephens advice is very solid.... Went through the same myself. ESP the RCA 12ax7, which brought the OD to life for me

I was after a dumble type OD which the RCAs did deliver. It's amazing how much these amps change with different tubes rolls
44  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: help please? with my ots fm me cleans on: August 19, 2012, 07:40:12 AM
Hey mate,

Tried rolling back the pre gain?
45  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM Bluesmaster setup advice on: August 19, 2012, 06:09:29 AM
Hey Mike,

Funny that, I think I may have finally sorted my OD channel and the advice has always been on the board but finally managed to get around to it today.

The trick is to change the V1 to a RCA short grey plate. Simple as that...

I order a pair and tried running them both into V1 and V2, but prefer the tung sol RI in V2. The RCA in V1 made a heck of a difference on the OD channel for me, and the cleans seemed a little more 3D if that makes sense. Also, I noticed that the OD now doesn't need to be high volume to hit that sweet spot now.

Hope that helps and all I can say is this amp is a keeper for sure. It's been hard work through trial and error but it's certainly been worth it.
