1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: tube recommendations on: July 11, 2009, 05:19:24 PM
I just swapped out the stock tubes with a pair of svetlana 6L6's, a bit smoother, more vintage sounding.  Just Fyi these are the real russian made ones

3  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Okay, I'm losing my mind! on: January 10, 2009, 12:00:13 AM
my buzz is in both channels, more noticeable in gain, the amp came assembled but without the ground switch wired. I got the schematic and had my tech try and wire it but there were some confusing inconsistancies, long story short, still buzzing, ground switch does not appear to do anything.

any ideas, please keep in mind I am not electronically savvy and will have to take the amp somewhere

thanks

IMO Kleinulator opens up the amp in a great way, plus i prefer delay in the loop, and it functions really well as a transparent attenuator!

Happy holidays!!

best

Beautiful clip,
What speaker are you using? I'm still trying to figure out what speaker and cab to use with mine.

It is a custom Victoria 1x12 cab Mark Baier made for em with a Legend 121
8  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Kleinulator/Fx bypass question on: December 01, 2008, 11:20:52 PM
Don't you just hit the bypass on the T-rex ? Or am I misunderstanding the question  Huh?

the idea is to not to have to walk back to the amp as the device sits on the amp next to the kleinulator

It is a strat i built with a buddy of mine who works for Tom anderson. rosewood alder, neck Pup Suhr with BSC, slight ddl in loop T-rex replica and ambient verb is Trillium labs long space, TDM in Protools HD, recorded with a Royer 122V into a groovetubes VIPRE. Glad you guys liked that. am doing series in that style. Also will post some gain channel stuff when I can. Thanks for ALL THE KIND WORDS!! Chair Dance

I have always needed verb, not here, wanted a sweet and responsive clean and solo side at reasonable volume or beyond, yep this does it, I added a delay througha kleinulator and was blown away. Super responsive, sweet, easy, open and huge! I have owned way too many amps and have to say I am rewally impressed! Thanks Nik!

Hey John!
Nice to see you on this forum my man.
Welcome to OTS world. You love this amp now but believe me you’ll be obsessed and addicted to it while time goes. It will get smoother and sweeter.
I wish women were the same way!    Tongue Grin

Hey! u r so right, just sweet! here is a little experiment i did:

12  Ceriatone / Overtone / Kleinulator/Fx bypass question on: December 01, 2008, 12:49:16 AM
I have a t-rex replica running in my loop through the kleinulator but I need to bypass the effect occasionally without bypassing the kleinulator to maintain gain structure. has anyone tried this???
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Amp buzzing, Ground noise?? on: November 09, 2008, 07:29:12 PM
Hmnnnn not sure as I expect to hear amp blow but not so much buzz, it is challenging chasing this down, but weird that i cannot connect the polarity switch, hmnnnn, keep those ideas coming!! and thanks
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Amp buzzing, Ground noise?? on: November 09, 2008, 05:25:32 PM
My Ot is amazing, sounds great but it buzzes. When I opened it up the polarity switch was not connected. Nik sent me a diagram to follow to wire it explaining that he does not ship ground wired as it is apparently illegal in some countries?

Anyway, my tech came over, as i am not technical in this capacity, and we tried to wire the polarity switch.

i sent this email to Nik; "the amp does not seem to match the diagram you sent. the zero point of the transformer primary is wired directly to the neutral pin of the AC inlet, which is not what is on the diagram. The diagram has it going to the fuse. We are trying to follow and match the diagram but it is not making sense."

We ended up re-wiring to match the diagram, spent 2 hours trying, but nothing, the hum is still there and the polarity switch does nothing. This hum, definitely 60hz, is more pronounced in gain channel, it is there at same amplitude whether a guitar is plugged in or not, my guitars have John suhr Pups with backplate, no computers, rf, or other noise generators in proximity. Please email me with any suggestions.

Thanks
