1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Head Cab vs. Combo Cab on: October 02, 2011, 10:53:14 PM
Got a 1x12 coming from Ten Guitars as well. And....I am finally putting my incredibly heavy Mesa Mk II combo in a red snake skin head only cabinet..George GTS is making it. I 'd just seen a pic of it, its cool lookin. I have a 1x12 mesa cab currently with a Emi, maverick in it for further volume control. Not sure what I'll put in the Ten Guitars cab, either my Mesa's EV or perhaps by another Maverick.

I really like to get my speaker up to waist height, so I like the head only configuration, just don't loose that speaker cord on the way to the gig!!!  Grin

Found it, rgbcases.com.
I don't see anything pre-made, I sent them a request for a price quote. Will post asap.

Okay here's what I got, RGB didn't bother getting back to me. Good business plan dudes.

So I called www.newyorkcasecompany.com they made some effects cases for me years ago. Still have them and they saved my arse a couple of times.

Gave em the dimensions, told em I wanth them foam lined, 4 recessed locks, two handles. Came to $177 shipped to the door. Will have it in two weeks.

Try Gabkits.
Just looked at them, their case is also too short. Thanks for trying to help.
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / Road Case for Ceriatone size head on: September 23, 2011, 03:35:46 PM
I couldn't find one on ebay. Closest was one for a Mesa Mark Series head but its about an inch to short on height. Anybody?
6  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Special cables for buffered effects loop? on: September 19, 2011, 09:25:17 PM

It would be my opinion that in your situation dealing with long runs to and from your effects that just a good quality relatively low capacitance shielded guitar/instrument cable would be the thing to use.

Oh good, glad to know this!!! All I need is special cables to loose at a gig!!! Cheesy
7  Ceriatone / Overtone / Special cables for buffered effects loop? on: September 19, 2011, 03:17:39 PM
I read it hear somewhere but now I can't seem to find it. I have a Brown Note with a built in buffered effects loop. I was thinking of picking up a TC Electronics Nova System which would require me to run long cables to/from the send/return.

A brief why would be appreciated and if so, where can I purchase said special cords? Thanks in advance.

I own a Brown Note Delite 44, but I just bought and put one in a Mesa 1x12 extension cabinet. It really is great. I prefer using the attenuation (not sure that's the correct term) on the speaker to turning down the return of my buffered effects loop.

The speaker reminds me of a higher wattage Jensen. Nice bell like quality to it. I hope they continue making more speakers like this one. I'd like to hear a EVM voiced speaker or a hemp-cone version.

Any way I am very pleased with the speaker.

Guys, in a weird twist of fate, my new found Ceriatone bud from Casper WY. called me to tell me there was a mint conditioned Brown Note Deluxe 44 with built in buffered effects loop for a buy it now of $1500 shipped to my door.

This amp goes new for about $2500 so I think I did okay. If I don't like it I'm confident I can toss it right back on Ebay for the same amount.

Mr Fabulous: the Moon Flowers album drummer is my good bud, Graham Lear. He played in my group for about 6-7 years. I loved that period of Santana.

To the OP...

You came to a great place here, and every one of the guys that previously posted to your thread are right on.  I'm a Mesa owner as well, have a 2/12 Maverick with nary a Mesa speaker or tube in it, along with a one of a kind custom bias mod, and have several boutique amps, along with a collection of a few hundred vintage tubes, but none of my other amps are as versatile in both tones and ability to sound great from small rooms to large with the same amp like the D-style clones previously mentioned.  I have a 50w HRM with a c-lator, and a 50w OTS built by Marsh with c-tone boards that I run by itself with no fx buffer, it is also amazing in the range of tones it can do at small to large room volumes.  I'm glad to have both of these middle of the road D-style  amps.  The various switches and gain and tone controls offer an amazing tone palette.
good info!!!!!!

Read the Ceriatone manual, it will explain much.

On an HRM amp the Clean and OD have separate Master Volume's.

On a NON-HRm amp the Clean and OD share a Master Volume. The Ratio control on the NON-HRM amp is to balance the OD to the clean volume.

When you add a Dumblealator to the equation the Return or Level control on the D-lator becomes your Overall Master Volume. This will give ya the ability to set the amps tone and volume all up (Running the Masters on the amp Very High) and then control the overall Volume to taste. You can also use a larger bright cap on the Master Vol and use high capacitance RG-400 cables to Roll off Highs (ala Robben Ford)

IMO these amp do not sound nearly as good without a D-lator. The Dumbleator adds slight compression, gives you the ability to run the Masters High, and adds a 3D smoothing effect to bot the Cleans and OD. Also a Dumbleator is a key component for interfacing line level time based effects (Verb, flanger,Delay etc.) with the amp.
Great info!

i love the creamy santana tones too.

i play 70's yamaha sg's through my HRM (ev12 speaker) and the sound is so sweet... i love carlo's tones from the moonflower period.

Thanks for the kind words on the clip. I fade from the mix towards the end as we are at the mercy of a sound man who's ears are merely scotch taped on...

So this amp has three volume controls much like the Mark series? I 'll look more into it for sure. Can you get the effects loop gadget built in without having to carry a seperate unit?
