1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Best Ceriatone OTS for Marshall 1960 Angled Cab with G12T75's? on: April 02, 2011, 04:03:58 AM
Thanks for your kind words and insightful advice Todd.....I've emailed Nik and he suggested the HRM for flexibility but the verdict's still out.... Smiley

I think we'll be deciding soon!
2  Ceriatone / Overtone / Best Ceriatone OTS for Marshall 1960 Angled Cab with G12T75's? on: April 01, 2011, 01:22:17 AM
Hello all!

My son is already the proud owner of a Ceriatone DC30 amp and I recently purchased (via Craigslist) him a Marshall 1960 Angled Cab with 4 G12T75's.

He also owns a Fender Twin Reverb '65 reissue so he gets the cleans he needs from that amp and the chime he wants from the DC30.

We've been thinking a lot about purchasing him a Ceriatone OTS but we were wondering what Ceriatone OTS amp would go best with the Marshall Cab; or if not the OTS, what other Ceriatone you'd suggest.

He plays everything from John Mayer to alternative (Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire, Radiohead) to Led Zeppelin and he has a lot of different guitars to  choose from when trying to capture great sounds.

Thanks so much for your input!

sounds like I'll have to give that a try....where did you get it for such a good price?
4  Muchless / DC 30 / DC-30 Story on: October 01, 2010, 02:51:16 AM
Hey all!

Looks like most of us are followers of Nik's great amps  but I wanted to post this story for the non-believers out there:

My son recently played his DC-30 alongside a Fender Twin Reverb, VHT Pitbull and a Fender Hot Rod Deville at an end-of-summer-camp performance and the sound engineer who's been in the business for over 20 years and travels around the country working with professional studios and groups was simply blown away by the sound of his Ceriatone. Also,  the professional musician in charge of the camp couldn't get over how great this amp sounded - and he's recorded at Abbey Road Studios and played for years so he knows his gear. They actually had to turn down the amp because it was so clear that it was "cutting through the mix and made everything else sound so muddy in comparison." (their words, not mine)

Stephen had people coming up to him after the show asking about his "mysterious" red amp (we had the cab and head built in red tolex), wanting to know who makes it (we don't have the Ceriatone nameplate on the amp just to leave people wondering)....

Nik - you and your team are the best! Grin

5  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: VVR working real good on the DC30 (layout) on: June 12, 2010, 01:11:36 AM
I bought my son one of these amps almost two years ago and he absolutely LOVES it!

How difficult would the VVR addition be? (I'm a novice when it comes to soldering)

Also, (on another note) how quiet is your Dizzy 30 on the "dirty" channel(s)? (have you found that it's a bit noisier?)

Can't say enough good things about Nik - patience grasshopper - your amp will arrive and you'll be so impressed with what you receive that you'll end up forgetting about the wait.

I understand that in today's "I can track my package from the moment it's ordered til the moment it arrives on my doorstep" environment you would like to know where your amp is considering the money you've invested but have some faith - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Nik,

For all of those out there speaking critically just ignore them....what you have is a very dedicated group of buyers/fans who definitely realize the value of what you're producing and the incredible customer service you're providing. No need for you to defend yourself; hell, we know what we have and we're definitely appreciative of all that you do!

I bought your amp for you my son after extensive research and after the recommendations of a local amp builder with over 30 years of experience who told us that in all his years of building/working on amps he'd never seen such "beautiful" (his exact word) craftmanship (wiring).

Best part of the entire experience is having Stephen play his amp live and people come up to him asking him "what kind of amp is that?"  Grin

Keep up the great work!

9  Muchless / DC 30 / FX Loop Easy, Inexpensive, and Wonderful Sounding Solution on: June 10, 2010, 02:13:03 AM
well, after trying to interpret all of the solutions for the FX loop (I'm a novice when it comes to this stuff - just finance my son's music interests! Smiley) I finally figured out the solution; thanks again to Nik's wonderful help and the postings of others on this forum.

I purchased the following Y cable:  Hosa YPP-117 -  and the results are fantastic!

While the Ceriatone DC-30 accepts pedals well the difference in using the FX loop is significant - my son runs a fairly extensive pedal board with delays, phasers, some fuzz, etc...and the "line noise" is whisper quiet and clear.

This simple solution makes the DC-30 even better than it's been already (which is great!)

10  Muchless / DC 30 / Recommended Attenuator on: December 14, 2009, 12:19:43 AM
Hey all!

My son's DC30 is so loud (even at 1/2 volume) that he really doesn't get to enjoy its capability at bedroom levels...

what type (brand) of attenuator do you recommend? (I've also sent an email to Nik) I was wondering what people use out there!

Thanks!
11  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: DC-30 Effects loop INOP?? on: September 11, 2009, 02:44:04 AM
anyone want to draw me a picture on this (please!)...I have one Y cord...are you saying that I need 2? And if so, where does it go? I'm very ignorant about this stuff - bought this amp for my son who uses a lot of effects and I'm a visual learner so any kind of schematic explanation would be of great help! Sorry for the burden on this but as I said I'm ignorant and really want my kiddo to get all he can out of this amp!

Thanks so much! Feel free to send via email if it's easier!
12  Muchless / DC 30 / Klein-ulator with the DC-30 - anyone tried this? on: November 27, 2008, 09:28:28 PM
Hey all!

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Klein-ulator with the DC-30, or if anyone has used the effects loop.

If so, what's been your experience with both and I'd welcome any suggestions since I feel like I'm not taking advantage of this aspect of the amp.

Thanks so much!

13  Muchless / DC 30 / Best Replacement Tubes? on: November 18, 2008, 01:06:32 AM
Hey all!

Wanted to have some replacement tubes on hand for my son's DC30....what do you suggest?

Thanks so much!

14  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Heads up for DC30 sale on: November 10, 2008, 02:47:35 AM
went with celestions: one (1) G12H and one (1) Vintage 30 speaker....great blend, really versatile...
15  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Heads up for DC30 sale on: November 07, 2008, 07:45:11 PM
hey all!

Don't hold back on ordering one of these...did for my son earlier this year and we can't say enough about how wonderful this amp sounds (had a cab built with the speakers that Nik suggests)...in fact, the speakers have just broken in and this amp sounds even better now (and everyone who hears it just raves about it).
