Exellent !! A zillion thankyous to all concerned.! My q's have been answered in full. I am not running the impedance selector, just a straight 16 0hm direct conection. But if I decided to run with the switch I know where to look now.

 Thanks for the response. I'll try to make it clearer as to what I mean. The O/T has 7 wires the red brown and blue have homes but the the other 4 are the cause of my confusion.  The latest layout for the TMB 18 shows 2 red wires comming from the O/T through different holes. I have a black, green, orange, and yellow wires. What I need to know is how are these wires arranged to the 3 post type output jacks (that were supplied in the kit) compared to the 4 post shown on the layout. Or which wires to which post? I am intending to run with a 16 ohm speaker.

 Just me again, onto the last stage of the wiring on the 18 TMB combo. This is causing me some confusion. On the Sept 07 layout plan it shows the 7 wires. 3 have been taken care of and are in thier rightful positions. The problem lies with the other 4 and the 3 post jacks supplied with the kit when the layout shows a 4 post jack the same as the input jacks. Also the it shows 2 red wires. Could someone please explain to me the routing of these remaining wires? Please? Then I can get on to the cab. The Red Fang arived today. 16 ohm as recommended by Nik. Getting excited about this now !!

 When I unpacked my kit I recieved the pack of resistors but with one missing. The "100R". Has this been left out because it is not required? Or should I nip down to the local electronics supply and pick one up? It runs between the middle tone post and the 0.022UF on the board.

Its an 18w TMB combo model. Are yes resistors  . Yep the switch thing now makes sense to me. Should have thought about that one a bit harder.

 Ok, so starting out as a 1st time builder, just a few small areas of confusion: 1 The standby switch, on the layout diagram it shows the switch with only 2 posts although the switch supplied has 6. So do I solder 1 to the earth and 1 to the + side?

 #2 The shielded black wire supplied in the kit.  Is this the wire used to run between the 5 posts on the tubes? I am suposing the green is for the #4 post on the tubes?  Or do I use the red and green for this job?

  #3 The diodes; is there a easy way to evaluate thier properties? Is there a colour code available?

  #4 The 4 ohm/ 8ohm wires from the O/T. Where do these go?

 I got a sweet deal on a Eminence RedFang, so I will try that out for a starter. If it does'nt suit at least I can flick it off and get something else. Alnico type has to be a reasonable starting point though?

 Hi all. Totall novice builder here wondering what everybodies speaker recomendations would be. I just got my 18 watt TMB in the post on Friday and have started the assembly process. But since I will be buying my speaker/s from the US, I figure I'd better get something organised soonish. By the time they arrive out here in little ol  NewZealand the bulk of the work should be completed (hopefully). I do like the Eminence Redcoat range but recently stumbled across the Wharehouse Guitar Speakers range of products. They have some happy customers and seem to be very inexpensive.

 +1. Mine arrived today. Well packed and DHL are as good as any courier out there. Paypal is as sweetas. I've used it close to 100 times now with never a worry. It does cost a small %age of the total cost though. I am from NewZealand and keep a close eye on exchange rates before I click the pay now button. When your spending 4 or 5 hundy it can save a few bucks if you currency is not the USD. Just depends on how much your hanging out to get the stuff. But Nik is super efficent and obliging and seems to be an exellent allround dude.
