when we say we have it at 10 oclock or what ever, from what angle are we looking at it? i would say mine is at 2 and it sounds awsome, not dynamic in any way though. well, no more than  a marshall.

you dont need to get the overtone all that loud for it to sound good, infact, even when at full volume, it is still pretty quiet in relative terms.

what way are we looking at it? Upside down to me would be when the amp is upside down, the trannies pointing up into the air making all the controls upside down. For me, with the amp up right so i can service the amp with the chassis open up and facing the sky, with me looking at the trimmer from the transformer side of the amp, my trimmer would be at 2:00.

 ???So, should i lower the current or raise it? Is it running to hot at the moment or not?

Its a JJ 6L6GC, and i am sure the valve can hhandle the extra current, its just the amp doesnt provide that extra current, the bias pot is maxed!

Hello there, for some reason, i can't bias each 6l6 to more than 25mA. It sounds fine and they are chucking tremendus amounts of heat so i wouldn't was to bias them any hotter, but its a bit lower than the max of 40 odd mA that the valves can take if i were to want to get them hotter. Now i haven't acctually taken the plate voltage yet, i assumed that it would be around 450 and i will take a reading later on but still, i think i should be able to get a hotter bias from the pot. Is this normal?

there is plenty of gain on tap, but the amp doesn't sound like a marshall. It can certainly rock though.

yay, it works again, i dont  think i will go near the FeT again.

I plugged my electric into the FET to see if it really is bad and now niether chanels work, they just crackle. IT sounds like a dodgy conection to me so i will have a look when it has cooled down but just in case its not, what do you think could be wrong?

Another thing, at this time, my signal cut out, so i changed the lead (it made a soud as i cahnged the leads) only to find that the other end of the lead was still pluged into my other amp. Could this have been a problem?

Oh dear, thats horrible when that happens. hmmm, well, you clearly have a grounding issue so it would be worth checking all of your earthing points. Also, a lack of volume would suggest a problem in the power amp. And also would be handy to check continuity at all relavent spots. I can't really help though, i'm just a beginner. Good luck.

ah thanks, touching things wont be a problem, it can easily be adjusted by applyinga small force from the top using a chop stick.

i amgetting heaps of sustain and feedback its awsome! i have the trimmer at about 2 o'clock if you look at it from the PT side of the amp.

I can't see why not myself but i thought i better ask the more knowledgeable before i potentialy blow something up.
