OK, just a few weeks... than we can compare a standard Overtone to a tweaked Overtone.
Stuut & Bruin had all the parts I needed, and is just around the corner of my house.
32  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Pin out for the footswitch? on: May 06, 2008, 02:51:08 PM
It's not a regular 5pin DIN connector.
A Midi cable won't fit in the Overtone connector.
The three pins in the middle are the ones you need.
Centre pin is ground, other two are OD and PAB.
The two outside pins are Voltage carriers for the Leds in the Footswitch.

OK, I did all the tweaks from the tweak-layout.
And the tone is great, I'm now back at 330pF snubbers and no piercing highs.
Only thing that I changed is the resistor before the Ratio pot, used 330k, to me
this sounds better than the 180k in the layout.

I also found materials for my two ports, now my cabinet should be tuned.
Have to wait till bandrehersal to hear the difference.
Still waiting on my RW&B speaker, it's in backorder...
34  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone - How easy/hard to assemble?? on: May 02, 2008, 10:59:20 AM
There is no documentation, only the layout.
The kit comes as parts only, but the boards are assembled.
So you'll have to place them in the chassis, and wire it up correct.
Twist AC wires, not needed for DC wires.
If your answer is AC? DC? then please order a build OTS.

You'll even have to figure out which bolts and nuts to use on all parts.
Be ready to spend at least 20 hours to build the OTS and go over it twice
before firing it up.
The $200 extra for a build version is well worth the wait.
Don't do it to save cash or cut the waittime, only order the kit if you're
determent to build it yourself for fun and because you can do it.

Mondoslug just saw your Youtube post.
Great sound!
I like your playing, you make it sound so easy.

How do you tune a cab in respect of front facing ports? I'd like to try a closed back ported to the front but wouldn't know how to tune it.

My cab is based on the bottom end of my Bogner Shiva.
It has two ports in the baffle.
I forgot to look what they did inside the cabinet with the ports.
There are two short pipes attatched to the ports.
My ports are a bit smaller than the Shiva's now you'd expect the pipe to be
longer.
But with calculators on the www I found out that a smaller diameter port
results in a shorter pipe...
So I'm off to the hardwarestor to find me some PVC...

Yes, after bandrehersal I was thinking to go back to 330pF snubbers.
But now I'll leave it at 600pF, come up with this at low volumes using
my strat with singlecoils.

I'm also building an old version of the Klein-ulator.
But until then, this will have to do.

Yesterday I did my first gig with the OTS.
Left my Bogner Shiva at home, no backup...  Cool
And it sounded very good, I redialed the toneknobs and got better results.
I still think the cab is a bit under par, but I'll wait for the R,W&B to come in.
Also I made ports in the baffle but forgot to tune them.
So this also could present the current problem.
I left the OTS as is, with 600pF snubbers and trimpot set to 12 'o clock.

Today I have a gig but only a 45min. show so must use provided amps.
Will use my OCD with my custom Fuzz.
Amp will either be Randall RG series or Marshall VS series...  Embarrassed

I use mine with an Intellifex so the master is at 4 and I control the volume on the Intellifex.

Just ordered an Eminence Red, White & Blues speaker for my cab.
I had the current Jensen C12K laying around so I used that one to test and to build the cab.

Then we'll see if the cab sounds boxy or that it's just the C12K...

40  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Deep_ Rock/Jazz Switch question on: April 28, 2008, 07:27:04 AM
The Rock/Jazz switch changes the Tonestack.
When you engage the PAB, the Tonestack is bypassed.
So it's correct, PAB on and the Rock/Jazz switch is not working.
41  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: My DIY Ceriatone Overdrive Special on: April 27, 2008, 10:40:52 PM
OK, I used the Overtone for bandrehersal.
Tone could be improved.

Problem, it sounds a little boxy.
Snubber cabs  will return to 330pF, now to much.
And the OD is to dense, must find a sweetspot for the trimmer.

At low volume it sounds very good, but at band volume the sound
is very different.

My bandmembers asked me if I played louder than normal, the sound
cuts through the bandmix very well... Grin

OK, you're welcome.  Grin
43  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM? on: April 23, 2008, 02:58:11 PM
I would suggest you try the amp first and then decide what to upgrade/change.
Sound is very specific to the user, and you also have new speakers to adjust to.

There are a lot of other simple things to mod if you want to change the sound.
44  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Other Effects Loop Buffering Options on: April 22, 2008, 08:43:36 PM
The Overtone loop is pretty hot.
My Intellifex overloads on Clean with PAB engaged with the same
settings as with my Bogner in the Line level loop.

Congratulations!
It looks like a clean build, so should be no problem for the Tech.
Couldn't see the fillamentwires very well so don't know about that.

Here are mine :
