Mondo - good work! That clip has really convinced me that the Overtone can compete with some classy amps. I might have to buy one - even tho I can't afford it!

thanks Mitch - useful info - I guess it is a matter of trying stuff out!!! I'll probably try the G65 first - sounds like a good speaker - and cheaper than the Gold.  Wink
19  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Cab & Speakers on: March 07, 2008, 01:18:01 PM
Hi guys (and gals). I'm currently thinkning (dreaming) about ordering my own Overtone without a cab, and then building my own matching head and 1x12 or 2x12 speaker cabs from fancy woods. There seems to be a whole 'science' to speaker cab design if you read the custom builders' websites - detuned vs non-detuned etc etc ...

Does anyone know of any good tried and tested speaker cab designs available on the interweb?

Thanks, Dan

I like all of the above. But could we expand this topic to what sounds do we like to here? Or does anyone have a favourite key or time signature?

I like the sound of waves (not soundwaves but the big washy watery things at the beach). Whereas, I hate the sound of babies crying.

Nigel Tufnell thinks D minor is the saddest of all keys and Ritchie Blackmore really rates G minor because it is dark and brooding. Does anyone like major keys - I like them, especially when using a capo. Am I losing anyone?

Hi everyone! I'm new!

I don't own a non-Overtone ... but I think I might like to ... I'm just mulling over some options in my head.

Has anyone tried the Overtone with the Celestion Gold Alnico speaker? It gets good reviews in the music press and I was wondering how well it might work in a 1x12 cab.

It's rated at 50w. Is that enough headroom for the Overtone? I'm more interested in good tone at moderate volume rather than being loud enough to play Wembley without a PA !!!
