2  Community / Classifieds / OTS FM-50 + Gabkits 1x12 + WGS ET-65 + CLator + TC GMajor (Seattle) - $1500 on: May 01, 2011, 09:57:22 PM
I'm selling my five months old Ceriatone Overtone Special (50w - Ford Mustang), C-Lator tube effects loop driver, and TC Electronics GMajor. The amp is mounted inside a Gabkits 1x12 combo cab with a WGS ET-65 driver. The amp was assembled by Ceriatone and has never left my house or been exposed to smoke. Curently, it has a mish-mash of JJ and Tung-Sol tubes in it. Footswitch included.

This rig sounds amazing and blows me away with its singing tone and versatility every day. The only reason I'm selling it is because it was a bit of an impulse buy and the stark reality is that I'm not some great jazz/blues player - I'm a hack rocker who has no business playing on such a wonderful amplifier. It might sound silly, but it's the truth.

FYI...the C-Lator DOES make a huge difference. The amp sounds great by itself, but with the C-Lator it becomes absolutely incredible. Believe the hype.

I run a G-Major through my FM50/C-Lator and it sounds awesome to me. Thought about getting a Minimix, but it just seemed like too much money and complexity for not enough tonal improvement. Anyway, I got my G-Major off eBay for $200 shipped (the same price as the m350 new no shipping) AND the G-Major has the exact tonal specifications (sample rate, AD\DA conversion, etc...) as the G-Major II, so sound-wise, the G-Major and G-Major II will sound almost identical - hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the II had a lot of exact same sounds ported over from the I.

I should add that I really don't play live and I'm kind of a set it and forget it kinda guy with my effects.

Just my $0.02.

I received my FM50 + Clator about two months ago. I mounted it in a Gabkits 1x12 cab (great cabs btw) with a Warehouse ET65. The FM50 is a fantastic amp that, IMO, sounds great without a Clator. FYI...the FM50 is not a straight copy of the Ojai/Ford amp; it has been modded a bit to be a bit warmer so, contrary to what some of the other members of this board say, the Clator isn't required. However, with the Clator, the FM50 is incredible...

Anyway, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just make sure to read the manual thoroughly, learn how the controls interact, and play with them...a lot. This amp is mind-bogglingly versatile and takes time to get to know. Also, give it time to break-in...the components need time (~60 - 80 hours) to fully break-in, so if the amp sounds a bit stiff/sterile to you at first, give it time. AND...play with different varieties of tubes; currently, I have the stock set in, but I swapped in/out a bunch of different sets and it does change the character slightly.

Oh...I guess I should mention that although I've built five different kit amps, I had this one pre-built. Reason? Just too busy, a little lazy, and more than a little impatient. Smiley

Anyway, welcome...and ENJOY!!!

Although really wanting an OR120, I would hap-hap-happily accept an OR50 as a good 'close enough'.

I would love one of these. I rocked a VT-22 years back and it was full of win. A head version would be even better.

I heartily agree with this post...
9  Website, Store / Suggestions / Orange OR120 PLEASE on: December 08, 2010, 02:59:55 AM
Please start producing an Orange OR120 kit. It would make me overflow with joy...

Thanks.
