Thanks Gregg,

What happens if I remove the cap like on the standard OTS?
4  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Unusual taper on volume pot on: November 18, 2011, 11:12:03 PM
Well, it looks like changing the cap on the master vol pot makes it act differently depending on the value. I put the original 68 back in the taper was smoother. Installed a 33 and it seem like the vol rolls on faster. Am I imagining this, or what?  I am a newbie in amp mods so please bare with me.
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / Unusual taper on volume pot on: November 17, 2011, 11:41:26 PM
Hi all. Just did the ME mod on my FM 50. Sounds great. But, the volume pot has virtually no taper. It seems to go to full volume at about 3.  Any ideas on what might be causing this.?

Olrik,

I pulled the delay out of the loop. It is a bit brighter, but nothing that is adeal breaker. The delay does add another layer.  Besides, tone controls on guitars are there for a purpose. I use Sprague .022 orange drop caps in my guitars, and I can really work the pickups with them. 300K vol pot, 500k tone. Especially the bridge pickup. Roll the tone knob back to 5 and it grinds better than a dancer at Rick's caberet. I think this amp is a winner. i am trying to put together some sound clips. As soon as I do I will post them. The settings I am using, initially, are:
Preamp: vol 3,
Bright: off
Deep: on
Rock setting
Treble: 4
Mid: 7
Bass:6

Overdrive: Level 4, Ratio:5

Pwr amp: Master3.5,
Presence: 4

OD Trim:  11 o'clock

Wow, this is getting way over my head. I think the amp sounds great as it is.

J.

No C-lator. Straight in. Running a boss DD-3 delay through the effects loop. I may invest in a C-later at some time. I am configuring my setup something like this.

I have 2, 2x12 cabs with late 1960's EV Sro's. I will be putting my 2550 through one of them, The OTS FM50 through the other. Use an A,B,Y switch.

Boss DD-3 delay
Tube screamer
Stereo chorus
Cry baby wah

Nik,

This amp is great. I don't find it all that bright, but then again I play humbuckers. It has a very nice attack and grind when playing on the bridge pickup. and a great howel on the neck pickup. I will post up some sound clips when I get some recording gear. Cheers!

Yes that cab has the SRO's. Rob is a great player. He is one of the top guys here in in the Dallas area. I am building him that double cut, tobacco burst, junior that is hanging on the wall over his right shoulder.

Cheers!

Hired Hand

I play from time to time. Mostly small clubs with my hard driving blues band. We crank it every now and then. I had been playing Boogies , MkII C+'s, for the last 25 years and needed a change. I have also ordered an OTS FM50. It should be here in a few weeks. I am going to run them in stereo with an A,B,Y switch. I playing through a 2x12 3/4 back cab with a set of 1966 EV SRO's. Sounds great. Will be adding 2 EV 12L's in a closed back cab when I cet the OTS. It shoud be one hell of a rig. I am a custom guitar builder and use them to demo my guitars. Check out my website. www.brianpaulguitars.com.

Check out my friend Rob Hunt playing one of my guitars through the 2550 on YouTube.
