I think it's more like a half power DC30

So whats the point if the DC-30 has a half power switch?

It also has a half power switch ...7/15 watts.  It was discussed on a forum (TGP or this one) as a custom job for someone who's DC30 was too loud.  There are other differences to the DC30....

Absolutely!!!  Nik does nothing really close to a BF fender.  I had an OTS for a while.  The clean was nice - but not realy in the same league as a good BFDR IMO.

Working chassis built by Nik (or whoever builds them at Ceriatone now). Latest mods - less than 2 weeks old.  Awesome amp - I'm selling because I'm not going to be playing out any more so I'm going to sink some funds into a modelling/recording setup.

Believe it or not, Nik has been working on a Vibroverb, stock, not with the Ceser mods

Nik's is/was a 63 brown face vibroverb (6G16 circuit) not the SRV 64  black face model (AB763 circuit ) - unless he was working on 2 different ones.  I nearly bought one as well.
8  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: possible bias issues on: May 30, 2008, 07:35:51 AM
I recently spent some time with 4 sets of 6L6 tubes in my amp and I found there was a little 'grainy' character with the bias low (25ma) and this got better for each tube up to about 35ma. One set even sounded best at 42ma, but another old, old set arced (internal spark) at 42ma. The sound at 25ma was still very acceptable for all the tubes, though, just depends on how critical you are. It is a trade-off between smoothness of tone and heat. I wound up liking from 35ma to 38ma, but this is a home recording amp. For gigging, less heat and more reliability might dictate around 30ma.

In terms of changing your bias circuit, either raise that 1.2k resistor with experimentation, or e-mail Nik to see what he recommends.

I've emailed Nik, and he told me that i have to measure from the red point to the black point, with my meter set at DC

Then i have to regulate it till it says 30-40 mV....

I did that and when measuring the from the same point with my meter set at mA, it only reads 11,6 mA... But according to Nik this is fine

I don't understand this at all.  If mA and mV should be reading the same and Nik said bias should be 30-40 mV, why would a reading of 11.6 mA be fine?? Huh?  Am I missing something?

I would love to see a BF Deluxe Reverb or Pro. A vibro king would be awesome!

I need to get my notes in order but where this is heading is a second overtone mod for folks to try. This one will be for single-coil players, and basically it will involve changing the Overtone components to #124 Dumble values.

Stay tuned....

Wow!  This sounds really interesting.  Your amp sounds great!!

Hey dotyduke -

Mine arrived yesterday (it has the latest mods) and I had the same thoughts on the clean channel.  Even with vol and master on 7 the cleans are not really very loud.  On a 50w fender, those settings would be painfully loud. I wonder if it's as a result of the new mods??  Does any one know if the value of the two big (filter?) caps will affect the volume?  The layout says 100uF 450V, but the ones in mine are 200uF 300V.

Mind you, I haven't maxed out the master yet as I haven't tried it with the band yet.

Not sure about the boost and deep swith I will try it out later and see what mine does.

Is that right - trimmer at about 3 o'clock??  That seems pretty high compared to other users (usually 9-11 o'clock or so I have read).

14  American Style / 5F4 Super Amp / Re: 15" Speaker in 5F4 Super Combo? on: May 06, 2008, 11:51:58 AM
I believe there are only minor circuit differences between the 5F4 (super), the 5E5 (Pro) and the 5E7 (Bandmaster). The main diff in the tweed originals is the speakers they were paired with - 2x10" for the super; 1x15" for the pro and 3x10" for the bandmaster.  Weber alnicos would be the most authentic for a tweed repro.  I have a 15" weber alnico I run with my 5E3 and I love it.
