SoundPerf, I'll do that, I made a video showing the different sounds yesterday, but had some technical issues, (which translates as me being crap at getting the recording onto youtube!), I'll try again when I get a minute:)
Adam, the buffered loop was a clater earlier in it's life. I didn't implement that mod, it was done by Steve Carter, awesome engineer/human being in NW England. He did the reverb mod as well.
I'll start a new thread on it, and try and get hold of the schematic for the reverb and buffered loop mods. I know Steve made a schematic by reverse engineering...
He he cheers for the hint! dont worry my fingers aren't going any where near the internals of the amp. I am well aware of the dangers of ignorance in this area.Which is why I'm taking my amp to a tech. I was just wonderin which they are on the layout.
Hi Tone Control Cheers for the intrest to be fair it's a great amp, and for me to say I can't get a good clean would be untrue. I'm just trying to get it closer to the sound in my head which is somewhere close to the first few bars of this
I tend not to change channel during a tune, I use the guitar vol to clean the sound up if I'm on the overdrive channel usually. The od sound I've been favouring, has the od trim on about 9oclock and the left od pot about the same. I've not used the PAB so much cause I like to have the EQ to experiment with.
Hi Bluesfenderman Cheers I'm gonna have a 3 way switch put on the V2b snubber to try a few values there ...........theres no deadly voltages on that one is there!? .....Does anybody have a schematic?
Hi JD0x0 I guess the clean really. I like the character of the overdrive. Am I right in thinking that whatever I do to the clean will affect the overdrive anyway?
Hi Tone Control I'm using a 77es335td with the original pickups. It's the model with coil tap, so I can get a single coil vibe. I use a clator, and an eventide H3000. As for the way I use the amp controls, it really varies a lot. I've been trying it at different settings to see what it can do.
Yeah I agree it does sound better after time. its had quite a bit of burn, it gets at least 2hrs a day. Its pretty close to the sound i'm after, and i'm sure with a bit of tweaking it can be nailed. I'm not gonna use it for the moment though till I get that switch changed . I'm goin through cold turkey! It's been 2 days now....
Hi Pickmaster thanks for the heads up on the dangerous switch, and the other ideas too :)Ideally I would like a few different values for the slope resistor, or even a variable resistor, do you know of a safe way to do this? thanks man
