20  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which OTS for me? on: October 18, 2010, 02:41:15 PM
For now, I'm more inclined to get the "regular" OTS (the one who got the mods suggested by Scott Lerner & Co) as far as I understand, it's the one who's more able to fatten up a vintage strat sound.

I'm pretty cold about the 2 HRM versions because of the internal trimmers, because if I'll be getting a hard time to get the overdrive channel to sound the way I want, in the back of my mind, I'll always think: maybe it's because of the trimmers, no I have to take this chassis out again and go against the safety precautions in order of adjusting those "suckers" at full gig level, too much tweaking, not for me.
21  Ceriatone / Overtone / Which OTS for me? on: October 17, 2010, 11:39:21 PM
- I only play single coil loaded guitars
- I'm not a channel switching guy, all I want is an overdrive channel reacting to picking dynamics and the guitar's volume knob. When I'm rolling down my guitar's volume knob, it does not have to become pristine clean but just cleaner, with just a little crunch for rhythm work.

- I'm looking to fatten up my single coil pickups. Although I'm not into Carlton and Ford, I do enjoy a lot Matt Schofield strat tone. His tone is a real single coil FAT tone.

- Either an EH Holy Grail or Boss Fender reverb sitting on top of the amp using short cables is all I'll need in the loop. (In saying that, I'm hoping that the Kleinulator or the D'lator are not mandatory)

Thanks for your suggestions and help.

PPIMV and VVR
I switched the PI valve for an ECC82.
Now around 9-11 oclock there is a setting where a strat neck pickup sounds amazing then once past 12 oclock, you need the bridge humbucker for that ultra high gain sound

Can you explain your need for the PPIMV and VVR, it seems to me that the VVR should be a better choice for a Trainwreck clone, but I'm still learning about them, until I'm gonna make the jump to buy either a OTS or a TW (though I still have no idea how to choose between the Expression, Liverpool and Rock It)

Thanks for your answers  Smiley

Are the treble, middle, bass controls on the front panel only affected to the clean channel and do nothing to the overdrive channel? or are they affected to both channels with the overdrive channel having the internal trimpots in addition ?

So that's what I was afraid of: the "'s'cuse me ladies & gentlemen while I tweak my trimpots"

It seems to be a great amp, but I really don't get the trimpots inside the chassis. Don't you guys never have the need to tweak your amp gig after gig, depending of the volume you will have to perform (usually in these days, much lower that I would like)the size and the acoustic of the place...?

You set them and forget them. This has been discussed at great length.

Can you set them at home at very low room volume and then go on stage and still be happy with what you've done at home ?

You could set them at low volume if your ears and the amp and speakers are linear, but they're not, so you'll need to get it running properly somewhere.
You use them to tweak the distortion sound, it's an extra TMB stack after the distortion. It is a set and forget thing
so you'll need to get it running properly somewhere.

Still confused... what do you mean by: "so you'll need to get it running properly somewhere".

Hello everybody, newbie 1st post here (many more on TGP)

What the internal trim pots are exactly doing on the HRM? and how do you set them if you have to take out the chassis everytime you need to fine tune them. I really can't see myself telling the audience: 'scuse me while I kiss, oops, tweak my trimpots. Embarrassed
