Changed V1. Now JJ ECC83. Hugh difference indeed!. Only a small amount of fuzz now. Lets see how I can get rid of it.
Only for understanding: V1 is for clean, V2 for OD, V3 for?
Thanks again!

Thanks everyone here!
Which are the heater wires?
Forgot to tell that the amp is no build, Ceriatone made it.

I try to change tubes, where should I start? Preamp tubes? Thought they last nearly endlessly...
Here are my tubes:
V1: TAD 12AY7 Highgrade
V2/V3: JJ ECC 83

Power tubes are TAD 6L6 WGC

Does someone know a good OTS-tech here in germany? Stuttgart-region? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

got a problem with my OD sound, also a bit with clean.
We played a gig yesterday, and my OD sound was really fuzzy, like playing with a fuzz-pedal. No singing OD. This is mainly when I play with humbucker-guitars (because of the higher output?) Cleansounds with humbuckers are hardly possible, everything sounds cranked, but not cranked in a good way, if you know what I mean. Stiff, harsh and fuzzy. Even the wah-pedal sounded very ill.
The "fuzziness" will get better, when I engage the PAB. Got this problem for a while, but yesterday it was really awful, because the speakers of my cab nearly was in height of my ears, not standing on the floor.

My setup:
- OTS 50W (TAD 6L6 WGC tubes), bright switch off, preamp volume 12:00, Master at 3, presence at 5
- C-Lator in the loop, all controls to 13:00, brights off
- Cab: Semi open 2x12 with EVM 12L's (heavy load  Grin)
Should I switch to a 100 watter, because of more clean headroom? Changing the output tranny? Changing speakers?
Hope someone could help.
Thanks from germany,

Achim

Which one are the heater wires? The drilled cables? Some pics would be niche  Chair Dance

Well... changed back to 150K. Much better (for me!) now. Especially starts don't sound so thin. But I must honestly say, I don't use the jazz-mode.
BTW: HAPPY XMAS TO YOU ALL!!

yes it can sound thin depending on your speakers.... my amp is set up with 2 x thiele boxes with ev12l.... bottom end is way huge....and punchy. like a quadbox with clarity. i have tried the amp with an open back cab and i agree it can sound thin.

this amp really needs a special cab with it, i also found the bottom end too loose and flabby in an open cab (rock mode), but now a totally different animal with the thiele cabs.

blueprints for ev thiele cabs can be found on the web and in my opinion are simply fantastic, they also work really well with my 69 fender dual showman
Yeah I've tested it also with a thiele box, with evm 12l. Sounds thin anyway, with strat and Les Paul. Got also a 2x12 box with two evm 12l. Semi-open back. This babe was a bit bassy, lets see how it sounds with this one.

Changed to 180K. Hmmm... sounds a bit thin to me. Tone controls (esp. the mids) are somewhat flat... Not quite shure if I like it. Playing some gigs with it, lets see...

Hi everyone,

this thread took the words right out of my mouth, as a famous rockstar would sing...  Smiley
I'm not quite shure, which resistor is meant in this thread, is it the one I pointed with the red arrow? Thanks for helping!

Interesting, thanks!

Jay Mitchell’s foam doughnut is a good directivity modifier. We have done loads of experimentation with it and found out that best way to use t is 15’’ foam disk with 3’’ hall in the centre. The best result achieved when disk is positioned 30-40 cm IN FRONT OF THE 12’’ speaker. Even better if you create a same foam 15’’ FUNNEL instead of disk, put it in front of the speaker on some kind of stand. It will not only block unwanted hi beam, it will redirect it all around depending on the funnel’s wall angle.
Much better idea than transparent Plexiglas screen.

Could you please explain yourself? Are there some links, drawings or so?

But the tone hunter looks very expensive achim1. 400$ is a tad bit pricey. Definetely will check out the VPD1 from TC Electronic. Keep em coming.
You are all very helpful and kind. Thanks.

Yep. But it's worth, you'll see (ehm hear). Never played such a dynamic pedal with such an awesome sound! And I (nearly) played them all...

Hello hellomusic  Grin, try the Tonehunter "Tasty Flakes". A bit expensive, but for plexi-ish sounds the real deal again. I'm using it by myself, great!!!!

They might be a little shrill, thats right. I'm running my OTS 50 with 6L6 WGC tubes, very warm an "jazzy" sounding (think of John Mayer). This combination, EVM 12L and 6L6 WGC, seems to be "the deal" fpr me.
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: EVM 12L Classic Speaker Question on: December 11, 2011, 10:11:01 AM
>200 bucks? Try to get an older EVM 12L, with a little luck you can catch one for around 150 on ebay. I'm running my OTS 50 with a 2x12 cabinet, and a 1x12 Thiele cabinet. All with old EVM 12L's. The speaker are the real deal (for me)!
