1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM Bluesmaster - Can I Put EL34's in it? on: December 10, 2014, 04:06:41 PM
I had my tech do that to mine along with lots of other STUFF done to it (100 watt BM converted to a non-HRM Skyline "183"-ish style) . It really depends on the specs of the tranny you have, wattage and all that info. You should take it to a good amp tech and have that conversation. This is almost a TAG thing Wink
2  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Anyone tried a TIM pedal into their BM? on: September 16, 2012, 03:27:24 PM
Hi Strat,

Actually I do use a TIM and a klon klone ( Monsterpiece STUD ) with my BM.  I use the TIM for what you have in mind, the klone for a clean boost, the OD channel from the amp for a heavier OD. I don't find any problem about scooped mids but keep in mind I'm usually using the PAB. The TIM is a great pedal and a good addition to your pedalboard. Also buy it from Paul, he's one of the best. Hope this helps.

Exactly as Todd says. The C-lator will eliminate the need for an attenuator as well as add to the sound of your amp.

100 watt BM built by Nik and topped up with Classic Tone transformers, LFNB switch, and 1/2 power switch by Henry
(tenguitars). I've had EL 34's put in place of the 6L6's and a grounding mod done by my tech to eliminate noise in the OD section. I am going to have the 22M PAB mod done soon too.
- C-Lator w/ TC electronic M300 and Suhr Mini-Mix
- 2X12 Avatar cab w/ WGS ET 65 speakers
- 1X12 1985 MesaBoogie/EV12L cab (thinking of selling this one though and moving to a bigger 1X12 box)

This is one beautiful and complex amp! After having several Mark series Boogies, which I thought had significant learning curves, I am still learning things about the Bluesmaster owning it for a year. Wonderful cleans, and thick singing OD (similar, to me, of RF's "Keep on Running" and whatever else you need depending on the gig) and totally responsive to touch which I've never experienced with any other amp to this level. This amp also responds differently to which ever guitar is being played through it whether it's a Tele, Strat, or 335, each one a completely different flavor needed for that moment.
Yup, love this amp - it's a keeper!
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: C-lator settings on: June 06, 2012, 11:12:20 PM
I have both bright switches up and drive @ 2 oclock, out at 9.00 oclock this is for at home. The drive adds more tone

Thanks for your reply and settings ajmsrv. You're right about the drive. I tried it as soon as I saw your post. It is a bit subtle but it does add more tone at least at home. I'll try it on this weekend's gigs.
6  Ceriatone / Overtone / C-lator settings on: May 30, 2012, 09:17:06 PM
Hi all,

Just curious about how everyone uses their C-lator. I've using the settings that are in the manual ( not using the bright switches ) and have noticed, through this forum and other sources, that people are using a different ones. Any thoughts on this topic?
Oh yeah, I've a 100 watt Bluesmaster HRM and use a tele, strat and 335.

Wow!! Excellent band! Great playing Pickmaster and awesome sound!!
8  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Calling all OTS Owners: What pedals and what music are you playing on: April 20, 2012, 02:55:25 PM
My board starts with a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe>Monsterpiece STUD ( a real nice sounding Klone by Richard Coibion - great guy too!)>Timmy>Ernie Ball VP Jr 6180>100watt Ceriatone HRM BM of which I'm constantly learning more about with each gig and of course the tremendous resource of this forum. I also have a Tech MIDI mouse triggering a TC Electronics M 300 (which I'll upgrade at some point -  I use it mostly for reverb and some delay, with this amp you don't need much in the effects department for great sounds as you all know). I have the PAB on most of the time and go between the clean sound and OD depending. I use the Timmy for a slightly OD sound and the STUD for a clean boost as well as kicking the OD channel up a knotch.
This is a great forum with the best contributors!
9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Larry Carltons Bludotone is which Ceriatone OTS ? on: March 13, 2012, 08:08:40 PM
Larry Carlton has a few Bludotone's.......

One with the Ripper Circuit, some with the Bluesmaster circuit.

To correct the above, the Ripper is a Bluesmaster (Clean) with HRm Overdrive with a Post cathode follower after it (ala Marshall etc.).

Technically the Ripper is the Clean part from a Bluesmaster and the overdrive of the MegaPlex

The regular Ceriatone Bluesmaster will give you Larry's tone though.
As boldaslove says it certainly does and then some!!

Another type of boost to check out...I'm using a Klon clone ( ARC Effects and am waiting on a Monsterpiece STUD ... waaaaay too much info on this stuff at TGP Wink ) to kick over the OD section ( settings depending on the style of the gig ) and as a clean boost for the clean section. Also Bill Finnegan is releasing a new Klon at NAMM soon.

Bluesmaster 100 with 6L6? Can you run it with EL34 safely? (just need to rebias?)

Yes definitely Homesick. I took it to my tech ( I'm not a builder or tweaker myself, I take it to him and have him do it Smiley )
and he re-biased at 33-34 mA. He doesn't like to run them too hot - others do. I believe quite a few of the Dumble BM's were EL34's. I really like the differences in mine.
12  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: The TUBES Thread on: December 21, 2011, 04:52:49 PM
To add another thought in here... I put a set of Mullard re-issue EL 34's in my 100 watt Bluesmaster and it changed the character of the amp in such a great way. It has a much tighter bottom, more pronounced mids, and more gain at lower settings on the OD section.  I use Tung-Sol 12AX7's in the pre-amp section.
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: A newbie impressions of the HRM OTS on: December 09, 2011, 07:14:07 AM
not to thread jack, but i was interested in this a few months ago and this was the consensus on the best way to run the mini mix with the c-lator for parallel mode and keep the c-lator as a global master

Preamp Out=>C-lator In=>C-lator Send=>Mini Mix in=>Mini Mix Send to effects=> Mini mix return from effects=>Mini Mix Out=>C-Lator Return=>Power Amp In

hope this helps!!

Gregg

Thanks Gregg,
Just the info I needed!

Hey guys-

I'm an aussie as well =) Perth.

Thinking about getting an OTS soon- what you guys using for a buffered loop?
I'm not an Aussie, but I'll jump in here... You mean besides the Dumbleator/C-lator (Tube) and the Klienulator (Solid State)?

Yeh, I've been looking at Fuchs verbrator, looks more portable and has reverb
I've seen something somewhere about a guy picking up one of those in the last couple of months.  He was very happy, but there were also some that had used a Verbrator that weren't.  I know, not real helpful without a link....

I went with a G-Major II through a C-lator AND a Suhr Minimix II (as soon as the Minimix arrives).  I hope to thin out the herd of pedals on the floor!!!

Kevster

When you get this set-up completed, could you map out how you route the Suhr Minimix II, G major II and the C-lator?

Thanks, Cliff

here's one with a klon klone pushing the amps OD.  At first I was on the clean channel 95% off the time with this amp but the OD is really starting to grow on me.  I want just a touch more bite out of it though like Marin gets.  I need to grow some balls and open her up and mess with the internal trim.

Nice sounds bigwebb! What klon klone are you using - there is so many out there.
