Tried amp out last night at rehearsals and it worked for a while. Had used it at home for the last fortnight on a low output setting as well.

Now its silent and has no output, I have changed blown HT fuse this morning and still no sound. Amp lights up and can hear feint mains hum as you would expect. But no sound.

Checked cables and cab, they are both fine.

So I don't recommend  setting an amp head to 4 ohm out into a 4 ohm Load Box, then into 8 ohm cab.

UPDATE

So I took the power tubes out, reseated them and now it works?

It had blown the H.T. fuse last night at rehearsal.

But seems to work now.

I'm confused as to what happened, but I'm no amp expert. Have emailed Nik and reported my findings, so hopefully he may have some suggestions for me.

I'm glad it works as this amp screams!

My Koch Loadbox II will only do 4 ohms.

So the Eminence is fine as I'll wire them to 4 ohm

However the Scumbacks are getting wired 8ohm, I figure they will be okay. But advice is always appreciated.  Smiley

I just bought a pair of used Scum Back  M75-16 hp 16 ohm for a 2x12 cab I have.

Also picked up a couple of Eminence speakers one a Governor speaker, the other a Wizard speaker both 8ohm.

So I'm going to do some experiments with a closed 2x12 Zilla cab I own and see how they fare.

Currently it is carrying a pair of Celestion G12Ms rated at 16ohm each and wired to 8 ohms.

So I want to try a similar setup with these other two pairs to see what is does to my sound.

My attenuator is a Koch 4 ohm unit and my amp, a  Ceriatone Plexi clone is a 50 watter amp has 4, 8 & 16 ohm taps.

Any advice on how to get the best out of these speakers would be appreciated. Also what to avoid etc

I know not to mismatch ohms etc but will sometimes use the cab live so the attenuator is really for rehearsals and recording.

Contemplating loading two different cabs for different tones, so any advice on a good 2x12 cab build or maker.

The Zilla is pretty good, but I'm open to experienced advice.

Thank you in advance and I am also using the search function onn this and other sites for tips and good advice.

But I find sometimes its best to ask for help as well.

Not got a band rehearsal until 23rd as our drummer is on holiday. So haven't had a chance to turn her up to my usual level. In the house though at low volumes its hard to tell, however the clean tone is very responsive and feels good with lots of full sounding note definition. Really looking forward to turning it up with my band though.

Will give a full report once I have opened up the floodgates!

I figured this might well be the case... I have an old 1977 JMP combo and it roars, so was unsure exactly how  uch power this Ceriatone could knock out.

Looks like I'll need to find a pair of higher wattage 12" speakers in the near future.

Don't fancy lugging a 4x12 around anymore.

The sticker gives the game away I believe.

Think its newer than stated too...

So based on this, will it be okay through my 2x12?

Hi Nik,

I was told it was built by you in around 2007, I will open her up and take some pics and post them later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Sorry I should have said... Its a pair of Celestion G12Ms 16ohms, usual 75Hz bass response & wired up for an 8ohm cab.

Hi there everyone, I just bought this amp used and wanted to get some info on it. I'm presuming its a JMP45 clone? I have a 2x12 cab which is 50w and wanted to know if it'll handle this amp head okay? As I haven't got a band rehearsal to next week and there is no way I can turn it up in my house as its FAR to loud...

Any other info would be useful too.
