Hi all , im new to this forum so bear with me :-) ,, im after a single channel valve head and im very interested in the JTM45 / 50 ... i just have a few questions which i hope you guys can help me with .
First , how much clean headroom is available on these amps Huh? is there more on the 50 ?? is there a tone difference between the  two ??
I play professionally so i need an amp thats going to cut it live .. i currently use a 1990 Les Paul standard into Boss TU-2 - Morley Bad Horsie - Fulltone Fulldrive 2 (anniversary model) - Tc  Electronics Nova Delay - Fulltone Choral Flange - Amp (mesa single rectifier.. for sale atm .. lol )  - Cornford 2x12 Cab with Vintage 30's

Hope you guys can help

the amount of clean headroom is about the same. the 50n is abit brighter and more aggressive than the 45. it has a bit more distortion and is a little tighter. the 50 is more rock while the 45 is more blues. if you play in a loud 2 guitar band, I'd recommend the 50

64  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / Re: 6L6 in a 5e3 on: January 23, 2008, 02:39:33 PM
qouted from http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=331010&page=2

here's a quote from Mr Zimmerman who if i remember right based alot of his amp design on neil young's sound.

"Actually, Lord Valve, himself, told me a while ago, the secret behind Neil Young's amp. Take a tweed deluxe, change the power tubes to 6L6s (apparently Chineses), change the cathode resistor 200 or 220 ohms. I would add that the rectifier should be changed to a 5U4. Top it off with a Jensen C12N speaker, and you will probably get about 20 watts.
Of course, neither Lord Valve nor I can tell you how he convey so much passion and emotion in a single note.
I've been using the new Jensen C12N reissue in the Zeeta 50, and I have to say I've been pretty damn happy with them"

I'd love to build an ac30. I think I going for the 1963 ac30/6 (top boost) circuit, but with the ef86 from the earlier ac30/4 circuit. that would be the best of both worlds

I got a schematic. send me a pm and I'll send it to you.  I'm in copenhagen for 5 months now - without my amps. so I cant report now. but when I and some tech friends fired here up she sounded loud and aggressive

+ 1 on this
72  British Style / JTM 45, 50 / Re: 1/2 power switch on: January 09, 2008, 08:14:14 AM
just try to adjust the bias pot. if you don't have enough range with the 6v6s, then you need to change the resistor. this is the 56k resistor connected to the 22k pot on the left.
greg germino seems to recommend a 5Y3 or 5U4 rectifer if you run 6v6s in a jtm45
73  Tw Clones / Expression / Re: Testtube on: January 07, 2008, 05:11:46 PM
I'm using sylcanias. sound bright, clear and less compressed than the el34s.
I bias a -30v at pin 5 (like ken fischer recommended) and at 49ma at pin8
74  British Style / JTM 45, 50 / Re: 1/2 power switch on: January 07, 2008, 03:33:41 PM
jj 6v6s will work. but adjust the bias. you might have to change the bias resistor
