I'm pretty sure that there are no legal issues going on.  Just some whining on some forums.

There's no law or issue with connecting componants in any particular order (unless they get really anal about it), I think you're in trouble when you start copying the layouts as well...and of course names, logos etc.

I think that Nik comes up with his own layouts and they're all PTP.  Some of the cloned models were PCB.
32  Website, Store / General / Re: So many amps to choose from, but which one? on: December 24, 2007, 02:33:00 AM
Firstly, just remember these amps are mainly kits but Ceriatone will assemble them with cabinet.  Thus, you might find the fx loops are a bit lacking, or, not at all available on some models.  There is no reverb on any either I believe.

In my experience most pedals for metal only work well when the amp or preamp is pushed hard so these would be my pick:
any JTM with your pedals...if it's lower power you're after... the JCM and Plexi models great too.   18w and 36w more bluesy in my opinion but can still do metal with the right pedal.
Super or Pro (Tonebone or TubeZone needed here)
Liverpull... which is very metal all by itself - just pull back on the vol to clean the sound up.

I have a BF Champ and when used with an MI Audio Tubezone I can get some mad sounds... so it's up to you.

I'd like the Super next... someone once said that you can rock (pedals etc) a good clean amp, but, you can't always 'clean up' or rock amp.  Bear that in mind.

Very nice.  How did you go about getting power scalling in?  Looks kinda easy to install.
34  American Style / BF Champ, Vibro Champ / Just fired up my BF Vibro Champ on: December 13, 2007, 04:34:37 AM
I got my new champ this week and took it to a tech/cab maker to get it measured up - it's going into a combo cab.  While there we fired her up and - wow - very nice!  Bit of an AC hum but from the moment we started playing it was clear that this little amp is a winner.

The tremolo on this amp is the BEST tremolo I've ever heard!!!

My tele into this thing sounds awesome for country.  Through a little tubescreamer we got some great rock tones.

It's going to turn out to be a great little recording amp.

Still yet to source two more valves for the DC30 and just can't wait.

I will when I get the BF Champ.  I just got rid of all of my amps, for the time being I'll be a Ceriatone only player.

Like I said, I'll have to get them back.  My favourite, the Screamer, is on tour with a TinaTurner show.  When it comes back I'll demo that one in the Champ.  The only one I have here at the moment is the Treble Booster but it's in pieces ready to be converted into an 'MI Audio' Buff'n'Boost.

Have you guys heard the 'MI Audio' range?  Great pedals.

I was hoping that you were gonna say that it sounds aweful...lol...that would have made me feel better.  Now I just want it all the more... Cry
37  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Bring back the Overtone on: November 26, 2007, 07:12:44 AM
I would be happy if Nik considered building it only for those truly interested.  In other words - current customers who plead, and, potential customers who beg beg beg  Embarrassed

Maybe it doesn't need to be general knowledge that they're being built.

I may still buy the parts and build it myself as much as I can then get help from a local amp tech.  I really want this amp...hehe

When posting a message click on 'Additional Options' and attach your photo using 'browse' etc...
39  American Style / 5F4 Super Amp / Super/Pro...what's the difference? on: November 25, 2007, 11:31:01 PM
Hey guys...

...anyone know the difference between the two?  To me they look very similar.
40  Community / Gear / Re: Custom Built Pedals on: November 19, 2007, 02:04:38 AM
I've made a few pedals from 'Build Your Own Clone'.  And whenever I loan them out it's hard to get them back...I hope that says something about them.

Some of my clips might still be on the site somewhere...screamer is one of them.

Thanks guys.  Nik said my Overtone is on it's way....a "special" cab build is in order.

You'll have to give us a detailed report on the Overtone after you get it.

I was too late in getting my order in and will have to be content with nervously bitting my finger nails until next year to see if anymore will become available.   Cry
42  Custom amp building, Prototypes and other amps / Mods and Tweaks / Re: My little BF Champ 6L6 mod... on: November 19, 2007, 01:39:46 AM
Does the mod affect your tone much, if at all?
43  Tw Clones / LiverPull / Re: Power filtering question (maybe?) on: November 19, 2007, 01:29:41 AM
I suspect that it's PS filtering too.  I don't understand much about it but there have been reports of Matchless (original) DC30's having the same problem.  Apparently it gets quite bad in some amps... it's like having ghost notes shadowing your playing.

It will be interesting to see if any of the Ceriatone DC/HC30's (or other models as in your case) have the same problem.
44  Website, Store / General / Re: New Forum...very cool! on: November 18, 2007, 08:35:36 AM
G'day everyone (and Nik)...

It's great to see this forum up and running.  I'm just about to start down the Ceriatone rd.  I'll have a few different models by next year so I'll contribute and help out where I can...and looking for as much help as I can get - being the occasional screwup that I am  Embarrassed

cheers
Tim
