Well I soldered the heater wire up but not sure if I'm satisfied with it. When I get back home in a couple days I'll post pics.

Has anybody ever used a template of the front/back and did the soldering outside the chasis? I remember reading about someone doing it this way.
32  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Verbrator: Just as good as kleinulator or C-lator? on: August 19, 2011, 09:40:56 PM
If you're talking about the Fuchs Verbrator, it's high quality and the reverb is one of the best IMHO.
33  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: anyone use transformers other than stockers? on: August 16, 2011, 03:42:10 AM
I think people have used many different brands of transformers.

For my BM50 I bought:
Hammmond Power Transformer.
Magnetic Components Output Transformer
Hammond choke

Some people use transformers from:

Heyboer
Allen Amps

It's moving pretty slow. Hopefully soon I can post some pics of my progress.

Thanks for check'in!
35  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Bluesmaster 50 Speaker Update..Updated Again!! :) on: August 16, 2011, 01:32:38 AM
When I finish building my BM 50 I plan on trying these speakers:

EVM12L
Eminence RW&B
Eminence Red Fang

I'm thinking the EVM12L or the RW&B will sound the best but we'll see.

Here's a great heater wiring video. Maybe it'll help someone.

Thanks for the responses.

It'll be a head cab so most likely I'll use the cab with the C-lator compartment built in. Those look pretty cool I think.

Thanks mcinku, I wasn't sure if I needed to change the layout or not before I start.

Thanks Todd, I have a giant size layout, taping the parts to the layout seems like a great idea.

Back up and resurrected!

I ordered this kit well over a year ago as a first build and I must admit that I quickly became intimidated and overwhelmed by the complexity of this build. I've been slowly nudging my way back and I've finally decided to start this build again.

I'm confident that I can do this build, I'm just going to need alot of help.

So here I go with a couple questions right off the bat.

I've been studying the layout and noticed at the bottom that it's been revised.

This may be a stupid question but can someone show me where on the layout have these changes been made and where can I order these parts from in the states?

Thanks!

39  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Who's running dual amp setup? on: March 15, 2011, 08:07:46 AM
I have a Voodoo Labs Amp Selector that I got in a trade but I haven't tried it out yet.
It might be an option for you.

So what's the sensitivity db rating for the EVM12L?

Anyone?
I found a good deal on another EVM12L so I'm just gonna pair those together.

http://www.electrovoice.com/sitefiles/downloads/ProSound_proof8-16-10_LowRes.pdf

page 51: 100dB

However, its a bright speaker, that can have a piercing high frequency range if you don't use a dumblelater.

Thanks for that link! I swear I searched the web over and over looking for that info, I wasn't even close to finding that. Geeeez!

I got a good deal on a Fuchs verbrator so I'll be using that with my rig.

I think it's more important to pair the EV with a speaker of similar efficiency so neither one is more prominent than the other.

So how do I know what the similar efficiencies are?
Most speakers have the specs available, EV only seems to have the power handlling and the frequency response.

I would think the sensitivity (db) would be important?

43  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: EVM12L + another speaker on: January 15, 2011, 03:23:13 PM
Thanks for the quick responses.

What specs are important when comparing a speaker?

The only specs I see for the EVM are:

200w power handling

Frequency Response 80Hz - 7kHz (at -10 db down)

16lb. magnet

I can't find the sensitivity rating for the EVM12L anywhere.
44  Ceriatone / Overtone / EVM12L + another speaker on: January 15, 2011, 07:23:03 AM
Is anyone pairing their EVM12L with a different type of speaker in a 2x12?

I have a Eminence Legend G128 and a Red White and Blue 8ohm but I'm not sure if either of these would be compatible with the EVM.

All speakers are 8ohm.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

45  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Just got my HRM Bluesmaster 50w kit! (and build pictures) on: November 25, 2010, 04:19:13 AM
Yes, great thread as are the other ones.
It's nice to have the progress report with pics especially for a new builder as myself. I bought a HRM BM 50w kit for my first build and I've had to walk away a few times. This thread has made me want to step back up and finish my build now.

Nice work!
