Todd

Bummer about the hand.

At least I can take my gear to work and practice in the studios and still get paid for it whilst I wait for a redundency package Grin

Well this goes with the week I've just had.

I had tickets to see Joe Bonamassa for the 1st time, server blew up at work so I had to stay back and fix it and I couldn't go.

Then the TV show I work on has been axed after 6 years and massive staff cut backs announced.

Now this!
34  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS & First time Builders on: May 13, 2011, 01:09:09 AM
My first build was my Stray Cat, a OTS is a bit harder but not impossible for 1st timer.

Just follow the few golden rules:
Triple check your wiring
Don't rush your build
Ask if your not sure
And be very careful about touching anything when you power up and even after it has had power through it, some caps hold a deadly voltage for days. Always only put 1 hand in the amp and the other in your pocket so you dont accidently ground yourself.

There is plenty of help from experienced builders available here.

REMEMBER the only dumb question is the one not asked.

36  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Speaker Choice for 100w Bluesmaster 1x12cab on: April 22, 2011, 02:51:04 AM
Go for a EVM12L Classic and build a TL806 cab, perfect for these type of amps Smiley
37  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Amp Mods on: April 09, 2011, 09:52:36 AM
My Mods are:
Replaced the OT Trannie and choke with Magnetic Components
Lower value slope resistor
Removed NFB on V1

Other mods I have tried and then put back to standard:
Played around with the V2 snubber values
Rewired the OD level to the same as a OTS then put it back to how a HRM is wired

So far the biggest increase in tone came from the OT and Choke.

Very Nice!! I sure do miss my Les Paul, espcially now that I am realizing how much i dislike Strats through my Bluesmaster. Nice score Nairbr!

Thanks for that. I haven't picked it up yet, still paying it off

BTW if you like Strats get a Stray Cat 30, a very Strat friendly amp
39  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Got my FM50 with builtin Clator today on: April 08, 2011, 01:25:37 AM
REALLY Shocked

Am I the only one who didnt get a shirt? Cheesy
I didn't get one either....oh well! Wink
Maybe they're just for those who get a complete amp? I have the "too large for most t-shirts" problem also, so chance are it wouldn't fit either. Tongue

I got one with a complete amp I bought from Nik but when I ordered a Kit, no T Shirt. So it must only be with complete amps
40  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How to set the PI balance using scope on: March 21, 2011, 09:43:44 AM
Thanks for that mcinku
I don't own a scope but I have access to one at work, I will be taking my amp to work for a tuneup  Grin
BTW obviously I would need a speaker plugged in or a dummy load connected yes?

42  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: TC Electronics in the loop on: March 20, 2011, 02:25:58 AM
I have a G Major 1 in my loop I bought used with a Rocktron Midimate, sounds awesome.

They are easy to setup so you can have amp channel switching when you change presets on the G Major using the 2 relays that the G Major has.
All you need for channel switching is a cable with a 5 pin DIM (midi) at one end and Ring Tip & Sleeve jack the other end

I haven't bought a Suhr Minimix for it yet thats still one my shopping list, I'm a bit broke at the momment because I just bought a R9 VOS Les Paul last week  Grin

Seriously Nice Tone Grin
44  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Who's running dual amp setup? on: March 14, 2011, 02:23:07 AM
Hello all
I know J Bonamassa likes to use a Silver Jubilee and to me that sounds great, but he changes amps and setups constantly I dont think he even used a d-style amp on the new BCC album, just a bunch of marshalls!

I heard he is using Marshall DSL's for BCC

I am using 50watt HRM and a Stray Cat 30 as my dual amp setup and switching / combining them with a Dunlop George Lynch Tripler.

My HRM goes into a EVM12L in a homemade Theile Cab and the Stray Cat into a Marshall 4x12 with WGS ET-65's.

It has worked out really well for the sound I want to get as I prefer the HRM for cleans and the Stray Cat for lead.

The only drawback of running a dual rig is finding room in the car to put all the gear
