1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: "Flubby" Bass on OD channel - 100w Bluesmaster on: May 27, 2010, 07:28:17 PM
what are you're settings?
2  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: VOTE NOW!! Best Stock Overtone for Cleans? on: May 24, 2010, 06:33:35 PM
really? i thought the only difference between the HRM and the Bluesmaster was the clean channel, and then the OD would follow in its tonal mastery because its technically not a seperate channel?
3  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: VOTE NOW!! Best Stock Overtone for Cleans? on: May 22, 2010, 01:40:28 PM
from looking at the layouts it looks like the OTS, the HRM and the S&M all have the same clean channel, but the OD's are different.

whereas the bluesmaster has the same OD as the HRM and a modified clean channel to be more fendery, and i believe the clean is supposed to breakup a little better.

anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, i'm still new to D-style amps.

if you wanted a clean only amp, why are you going for an OTS?  Huh?

as far as i know, they're known for their lead channel, and i read a lot about people being disatisfied with the cleans. why not get a fender twin?!  Grin

well thanks for the info. i plan on building it more so from scratch so i'll be ordering most parts seperate. i think i'll make the OT capable of 70W or so to try a variety of poweramp tubes, i've heard 60W from KT88s is the best middleground between a 50 and 100 watt amp so thats my first shot Smiley

i'm begining my build in june when im done with school and will be documenting the whole thing on here, from ordering parts to tubing.
6  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM or Bluesmaster ??? Which and why ? on: April 19, 2010, 02:41:07 PM

circled in red. the 250K resistors with the 3 poles are the internal trim pots.

i believe they are in teh same spot on teh same board for the bluesmaster.

i'll look around and see what i can find  Cool

i too plan on sourcing this amp myself which might be a bit of a hassle but i hope it'll save me some money, and maybe catch me some fatter tone :]
8  Ceriatone / Overtone / Transformers on: April 18, 2010, 04:11:48 AM
what does everyone think of the Ceriatone supplied transformers? i love the way my DC30 sounds and have concidered trying out westlab replacements, but i'm not sure if it'd be an improvement or not.

as for this, has anyone used other brand transformers? if so where can i find them?

no i appreciate the help, i dont want to sound like a stuck up forum noob!  Embarrassed i just wasnt clear enough.

i'm not really asking for info becuase i'm pretty sure i'm experienced enough to  make the HRM do what i want it to do.

when you referenced those bands i thought early plexi and realised i should correct it because i see a lot of people asking that. i dont want marshall territory because my DC30 can handle that ground even though it probably shouldnt be pushed that hard  Tongue

all i really was asking for were sound clips becuase its nice to know that someone else is doing the same thing as me  Smiley
10  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Rhythm Sound Clips on: April 17, 2010, 02:29:13 PM
actually, i posted this after watching that video because i noticed the amp can rock, but no one ever seems to show it other than this guy in his bed room Smiley

however i disagree with that statement, that not ENTIRELY what i meant by crunch sounds because i am thinking more along modern music which would be highly compressed.

here are a few better examples - not necesarily my favorite music, but i'm curious as to weather or not it can handle this style of guitar playing.

i know the foo fighters use mesa boogie road kings, i guess i'm just asking if its an amp that can keep up with modern amps when it needs to? i know it shares a similar layout to a markII which to me means potential Tongue

i plan on getting the HRM50 and running 2xKT88's at 100W total with MM transformers so i can get a huge sound with more punch. from there i'll probably tweak a couple things between S&M values, standard values, and maybe try some mesa circuitry Tongue
11  Ceriatone / Overtone / Rhythm Sound Clips on: April 17, 2010, 05:34:30 AM
who has them? not necesarily a clean/light OD chord progression as i am thinking rock rhythms - like 70's riffing and whatnot.

i've heard plenty of clips of the OTS with super saturated singing leads, and rhythm/chording on the clean channel.

i'd like to hear how it handles rock riffing, maybe even some more modern genre's too. i'm sure that the amp can reach that territory, i've just never heard it recorded.
12  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Headroom on: March 25, 2010, 06:47:04 PM
would i inquire to be correct that the KT88's have much higher headroom as well?

what wattage should i measure with 2xKT88's. i'm glad i've read a lot about them working so well in this amp because i've always wanted to try a kinkless triode.
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Headroom on: March 24, 2010, 09:46:58 PM
yeah, well i ask because you can never really be too sure. i once had a 120W peavey XXX that started to break up at band volumes, but i've also had a 50W Mesa recto that was louder than any drummer with master, channel and gain volumes all below a quarter.

I built a DC30 and get those really nice in between sounds and want the fully clean and fully saturated tones now. however i want to add in a tube buffered effects loop and i could do this with the space i save in 50W. i could possibly order a M.M. transformer set when building this and have it speced to run with KT88's.

i guess this leads me into further questioning since the KT88's should be both cleaner and punchier. i plan on buying the HRM version seeing as how i like to tweak and figure it will be easier to tweak down rather than add on. will this do a modern rock tone? something kind of foo fighters like?
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Headroom on: March 23, 2010, 12:14:37 AM
how much headroom is there available in the overtones?

if i want to remain totally clean at band/gig volumes will the 50W do? or will the 100W be better?
15  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: scratchiness/crackling on: November 01, 2009, 04:32:28 PM
i do know what you mean with the master volume, i have that problem too, and I'm sure everyone does. but yes, it does this in full power as well, and only on the ef86 side, i might just try popping in a tube to see if that's the problem, i wouldn't be surprised if that's all the problem is.
