1  British Style / JTM 45, 50 / RC on Standby Switch of JTM45 on: January 05, 2013, 05:36:22 PM
Hi there !

1st,  i would like to give my best wishes to all for this new year  Chair Dance

My JTM45 is progressing slowly but i prefer to take my time...

My question is about the 100K resistor / 0.047uF capa on the Standby switch. Starting from CERIATONE layout, the corresponding schematic  look likes the image attached.
Is it OK and does it correspond to "On/Off" position of the switch ? On other hand, i am interested to understand the role of this RC which not appear on the original Marshall diagram

Many thanks

Hi !

Thank you very much for the precise answer !
Yes, i confirm the color on spec sheet from Hammond

You have a 50% chance of having them reversed ( so leave enough wire length). If they are reversed you will know immediately when you power the amp up, it will be the loudest most annoying squealing sound you have ever heard
!

OK. I have already anticipated the wire length to reverse in case of . But, with my level in guitar playing , i am 100% sure to produce the most annoying squealing sound ever heard !  Grin

Thank you Todd,

So, i think instructions for Metro (and the schematic in my previous post) are false as the  resistor is not used due to the internal jump.between 1 and 8  Wink

I deduce also that the external strap between 1 and 8  on the CERIATONE layout is a spare. Right?

So i will correct my homework to better comply with the layout

Hi !

Thank you very much T, it totally answer to my question  Cheesy

Hi there !

The originial Marshall diagramm do not show this resistor connected between pin 8 and ground on V4 and V5.

Reading the METROAMP instructions for JTM45 the layout is a bit different as pin 1 is connected to ground and not to 8 (picture attached).

Can you advice on the difference ? Is it important ?

Thank you for your help.

Hi there,

I built my JTM45 kit but with trannies locally purchased in Europe. The OT is an Hammond 1750Q. Regarding color of wires it seems to be exactly the same as the original Marshall diagramm for primary : Red and White + Black for the common.

Now i have to connect red and white to pin 3 of the V4 and V5. I don't know which one is V4 and which one is V5 ( i guess that is the one closer to PT and V4 the one closer to preamps.

I read on another forum it was important to connect in the good way :

Red goes to pin 3 V4 while white goes to pin 3 V5. If when you power the amp on it turns into the screaming banshee of death, reverse the wires going to pin 5 of each power valve.
So, how to connect?  I would prefer to have the amp working at the 1st  power on  Wink
7  Website, Store / Support / Install trannies on chassis: magnetic core to be insulated? on: December 15, 2012, 12:35:46 PM
Hi there,

I'm proud to join the community with my first attempt to built a Ceriatone JTM45. I bought separatly trannies and tubes due ti shipment costs to France. PT,OT and choke are from Hammond.

My very 1st step is to mount trannies on chassis and i don't know if i shall insulate the magnetic core from the chassis by mean of plastic washer or not ?

On other hand, i don't catch the use of the PT Frame provided with the kit . How do i mount this one (I saw several pictures on the site but it was present, or not, on one sense..or the other

Many thanks by advance for your help and sorry if my stupid question was already answered, i did not found it
