Thanks Boogieguy for your emails!  You have pointed me in the right direction towards tube enlightnement.  I'm feeling more confident in popping these beasts open now!

Hello

A few weeks back I noticed that My Super Plexi was begginning to emit strange distortion on lower notes, and chords.  The sounds spewing forth are sort of a "sub-octave ring modulation" type sound, if that makes any sense.  They do NOT occur on higher pitched, single note playing.  I realize that this is a symptom of worn out power tubes, so I purchased some new ones, biased using the video instruction off of the Eurotube/JJ website, and unfortunately, am still having the same problems occur.  As a newb, where should I begin looking for problems inside me' amp.

Thanks

I've been looking up how to drain the electricity out of an amp.  I have basic electronic skills with building effects pedals, but I have stayed away from anything that plugs into a wall in fear of shocking myself silly.

Thanks

It might be regarded as anathema to some tube lovers, but I would LOVE to see a reproduction of the late 60's solid state Vox Defiant heads used by the Beatles.  So many cool sounds were achieved on Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, The White album, and Mid 60's Stones albums, with these forgotten amps.  With their inimitable, ratty fuzz, top boost, reverb and MRB features, they were pretty ahead of their time feature wise.  NOTHING I have played through has came close to the sounds these beasts delivered, and with the unwillingness of many techs to touch vintage, non tube amps for service, I would rather have something that sounds like one, except new.

I love tubes, but I also love the Vox Defiant tone.

Allo Allo!

I'm new, and have a question.

I have had a Ceriatone Superlead 100 for over 2 years now.  I must say, it's my favorite amp that I have owned over my past 15 years of playing.  I'm not a real technical chap, but I have noticed a problem with jumpering the 2 channels together.  My bright channel (which I can't use) spits out more treble than I can tame with the controls.  I desire the versatility of being able to use the 2 channels, both jumpered, and not jumpered....... Should I have a treble cap cut out, or replaced by a tech?

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Thanks
