Hey Nik,
I have built 2 of your kits and they amaze people that have heard or played through them. I am a Quality Assurance/Quality Control manager and give you very high marks on overall quality, customer feedback, customer support, and shipping. These are the most important elements of a sucessful company or business. Your boards and soldering speak for themselves. There will always people who will complain hoping to get some something for less money. They are just a very small minority. Let someone else with a lower quality plan supply them with what they want. Right now your customers are standing behind you and that means a lot. You rank with the best and are trying to continously improve your products. You can't do better than that!!
Stick to your plan and continue to meet or exceed your customers expectations.

Tw Clones / LiverPull / Re: What types of MV's have been used

I used Ken Fischers "Type 2" Master Volume from the Trainwreck pages (p. 42) using dual gang 100K linear pot. It seemed to be a lot smoother sounding than the usual 1 meg pot types. It can be found at angela.com or Gerald Webers "Desktop Reference Of Hip Vintage Guitar Amps".

Website, Store / Support / Help with Ceriatone Liverpool problem.

I have a problem with what sounds like feedback when the Master Volume is moved past "4". The amp sounds awesome and works great up to that point. It sounds like a low mid howl even without anything in the input. The master volume is the 1 meg pot wired from the layout on the half power mod on the Ceriatone website. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have a problem on my Ceriatone Liverpool with what sounds like a low-mid feedback when the master volume is past 4. It's sounds most excellent and functions normally until that point. I am using a 1 meg pot (trainwreck type 4 ppi). Any ideas on what may be causing the problem?

Hi Nik,
I have been very happy with your kits. You have shown very good judgement and attention to detail and good tone. There are always going to be whiners or maybe that's weiners that don't realize how much time you and your crew put into the business. The craftmanship of your products is top notch. It is your business and livelihood, you have the right to chose what is best for you and for us. Take more time to enjoy indoor soccer, and get some well deserved rest and be ceria. What ever you do, don't stop producing the best kits on the planet!!

I agree with Cat. I read about circuits from Gerald Weber's books & Torres Inside Tube Amps (easy to comprehend) to get an understanding before I thought about building. The "Trainwreck pages" are a must. Here's one to Ken.
I never built an amp before and had no problem following the layout. I did an 18 watt TMB (non EF86) that was a little more difficult. I found Heyboer trannies from one ebayer, a slightly hacked up Weber chassis w/faceplate (TMB pots are backwards) from another and bought Nik's board. I emailed Nik about the trannies and started my build.
I did a section at a time: (a)faceplates, pots & leads (pot to pot), (b)tube sockets and socket lead wires, (c)pilot light & switches, power supply, ground lugs, can cap & leads, (d)output tranny, leads to output jacks, (e)mounted the board, took all the leads laid them out, (measured twice) stripped the leads, then put all the leads straight up in the air so I always knew where I was and what was left to be soldered. I started at one end of the board and worked to the other. It took right off the first time. No smoke, no sparks, no fire. I don't know if this the right order, but it worked for me.
Just take your time, and use your head. I'm an old fart (60) so you guys that still have your eyesight should have no trouble. Just plan ahead and take a break if you feel uneasy. You'll come back and go "yeah, now I get it"
