1  Tw Clones / LiverPull / Half / Full Power Switch on: December 07, 2007, 01:35:01 AM
At the risk of sounding like a complete moron, I have to ask this question. What EXACTLY does this switch do? Does it take half of the power amp out of the circuit somehow? What benefit does it provide me? I certainly don't notice a difference in the volume of the amp at all. I'm confused.

I notice a bit of a difference in volume when adjusting the bass on mine too. I'm not sure that it isn't just making the tone fuller and as a result making me think that it is getting louder. I think it may just be the tone getting bigger as opposed to louder - if that makes any sense.  Undecided

I have heard people remark about this same thing with Dr. Z Route 66s. I had never heard it myself with mine when I owned one but there is definitely those who swear it happens. I would like to know more about this phenomenon myself.

what kind of guitars/pickups are you using? Are you eq-ing or using a boost before the amp? Also, what cabinet/speaker combination do you have?

I have found mine to have a great tone stack that is very versatile and reacts to even the slightest adjustments

the Liverpull that I have is probably the hottest, most gain, and all around rocking amplifier I have ever owned. Gain is never a problem for me. In fact, I have never been able to get enough it seems. I have owned Marshalls, Soldanos, Mesas, Bogners, etc... and I must say that my Ceriatone is right up there with every one of those amps as far as having enough gain on tap. The only one that I would say had more (but very differently voiced) is the SLO. For the coin we spend on these amps, I really don't see better deals out there. I am unfortunately trying to sell mine as we speak because it just isn't getting any play being that I have a new Fuchs which I simply adore. I may hang on to the Ceriatone because it is such a killer and I know I'll regret selling it somewhere down the road as I do all my amps. Nik has really made a name for himself and has really made a lot of people very happy that were looking for "that tone" but couldn't spend the outrageous amounts of cash some of those amps are going for.

Pekka:

Hey buddy it's me Bill Ballato from CT. I sold you an OCD some time ago. I hope all is well and that you are still enjoying the OCD. I haven't received the TW clone yet. It's due for delivery on the 28th. I will certainly answer any and all questions you have once I have had a cgance to play around with it. I have wanted one of these things for a long time. I recently got it trade for another amp I had.

Take care and I'll be in touch,
Bill (bilbal)

Hey everyone. My name is Bill Ballato. I am 38 years old and live in Pawcatuck, CT which is about 5 minutes from Mystic, CT or the beaches in Misquamicut, RI - Southeastern CT.

This evening I finalized a deal in which I am the proud new owner of a Ceriatone Liverpoo(u)l head. I have wanted one of these heads from the first moment I became aware they were out there. I am a Dr. Z fan and also very much enjoy Fuchs amps. For pedals I have a Vox Tonelab LE, Fulltone GT500, Custom Tones Ethos, Cat's Eye Mutha Fuzz, Hermida Zendrive, Xotic RC Booster, Menatone Howie, and an Option 5 Destination Phaser. On order I have an Hermida Mosferatu. That should pretty much end my pedal board build for awhile at least. In my rack I have a Korg DT-1 Pro tuner, BBE Sonic Maximizer, Furman Power Conditioner. On order for the rack are a DBX stereo 15 band equalizer, a BBE MaxCom, and a GCX Audio switcher with floor controller. My guitars are a 2006 Gibson ES335 in Vintage Burst, and a Tokia Telecaster in natural. Within a few months I hopefully will have an American Strat (I'm working someone right now actually for it), another 335 or 339, a Standard Les Paul in Honey Burst and another McCarty. I have had so many McCartys but sold them. I regret every one!!!! I also plan to get into midisynth again sometime in the future and recording.

So...that's my story, lotta dreams and wishes but I love playing the game. I am stoked to get my head soon and also look forward to meeting some new friends that share the same passion for this stuff as I do!!!!

sincerely,
Bill Ballato (bilbal) Grin

Those were great. You have got a nice picking hand technique wise and your overall playing is killer. Nice touch. Oh yeah...the tone is really really nice too!!! I just finalized a trade deal for a Liverpoo(u)l this evening. I should have it by the weekend hopefully.
