Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Build time for an amp tech for OTS kit 2

There's no way on earth that an OTS could be done in 3 hours. I've done several, along with some of my own amps, and would consider myself reasonably experienced. An OTS 50 takes me 12 hours from start to finish, before burn in. I'm not the fastest in the world by any means but 3-6 hours just seems unbelievable.

Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Running a piezo and regular PUP output through the 2 channels?

Hi there. I guess you've probably given up on this post being replied to but here goes. I have a Godin LGX which has three outputs. One normal, one for the piezo only and one that can be used to blend the two. I used the standard connection into channel one and used the blended output into the second channel. I set the controls on the guitar so there's no piezo being blended with the normal pickup signal. In other words I have two outputs directly from the guitar which are exactly the same. It saved me having to buy/build an A/B box!!

I used a standup type OT so I guess that's why I didn't need the shield. The only issue I had was a slight hum caused by running the two wires from the board to the Master pot too close together. Once they were moved apart the amp was fine. I now have one of them cable tied to the mounting hardware for the power supply board. No chance of the hum creeping back in!!

American Style / PrinzeTone / Re: Big muscles Prinzetone build....

Hi mcinku. I have the guts of the standard Prinzetone on my work bench right now. About to start building after some chassis mods. I like the idea of running it on 6L6s for more clean headroom and later breakup. So all you did was use Vibrolux iron (OT and PT??) and changed one cap and resistor on the bias circuit?
All the best.

American Style / PrinzeTone / Transformer Recommendations
|

Hi folks. I've just finished building a Dizzy 30 and want to make a start on either the Prinzetone or a 5E5-A. I have done a BOM for the Tweed Pro but need some help sourcing the right OT and PT for this.
Can anyone recommend a good tranny set to go for? I see from the pics on the Ceriatone site that Nik is using the 5E3 output transfomer in the Prinzetone as well.

Muchless / DC 30 / My Dizzy 30 Build
|

Hello. Long time lerker and first time poster here. I finished building a Dizzy 30 based on Ceriatone's layout. Transformers and choke are from Hammond the rest is from spare parts mostly. Chassis from Nik.
I've only had a couple of hours to play around with it but first impressions are really good. Big fat single notes and absolutely gorgeous clean tones. The EF86 channel is also really impressive. I'm running a Mullard EF86 but will experiment with a few NOS tubes I have laying around.
