Community / Classifieds / FS: In AUSTRALIA, Anyone like REDHEADS?
|

I made a batch of these REDHEAD cabinets that suit the Ceriatone 5E3 head chassis. I have one NEW empty head cab available for $300AUD plus shipping, or pickup available from near Kurrajong northwest of Sydney. Features: - Fits Ceriatone 5E3 Chassis - Dovetail joined furniture grade ply - Leather Handle - Red Tolex - Gold string - Big tapered rubber feet (will sit over speaker cab handle) - Light and small, makes a great grab'n'go amp! The loaded head cab in the photos is my Blonde Bassman circuit amp that a friend built for me... so it is possible to build other amp circuits for this chassis, if a 5E3 Deluxe isn't your thing. My ebay ID is mansleyguitars, and I have 100% feedback of 485. Payment needs to be bank deposit, and I'll work out shipping for your location. Cab for sale is the empty one in the photos. You can get a feel for the size of the cab compared to the Marshall small box head, and the 2x12 speaker cab.

Nik,
You have every right to run your business as you see fit.
However, we'll be sad to see the parts go. My amp building friend and I have bought many chassis', plates, boards and sometimes transformers from you. For us, part of the enjoyment of building is choosing our own parts and coming up with our own variations on the amp designs. Your parts have been a good value platform to build from.
I think we've pretty much looked after ourselves, but I can imagine that some customers might be high maintenance.
I would love it if you would still offer a bare bones kit (chassis, plates, unloaded boards) and perhaps you could stipulate that it is "unserviced" "as is" "fend for yourself" or whatever. Just a thought.

I can think of times in my life when I owned less stuff (not that I own a lot), where I probably didn't have the greatest tone, but I probably had greater command over that guitar and amp and the sound, simply because I knew it really well.

It's a great tone (Matt Schofield and Two Rock). It doesn't really resemble what I was going for with the Super Reverb unfortunately.
As a side note, I really admire players who primarily stick to one guitar and one amp (like Matt Schofield). My problem is that I like and can appreciate just about every great guitar and amp there is, and subsequently want to own them all. But in the process it's easy to lose focus of your own sound or style I guess.

Hey guys, Matt Schofield sounds great. Thanks for the tip.
He seems to spend a lot of time on the bridge pickup on his strat, and has a great tone. I'm more addicted to the neck pickup myself. I watched the video on his site and I can spot the two rock as well as a super.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Overtone with 4x10?

I'm curious if anyone has tried the overtone, or any other Dumble style amp with a 4x10 cab? I tried a Super Reverb the other day and really liked it for punchy cleans and slightly broken up blues and jazz stuff. It felt really good.
I like the Dumble style lead tones I've heard with the Overtone and G12-65 speaker, but I'm wondering if I might be able to get away with the Overtone as a pseudo blackface amp for cleans with a few different speaker cabs.
Anyone tried this?

Muchless / DC 30 / Re: C30 Rectifier - 1x GZ34 or 2x 5V4
|

I got to hear my DC30 for the first time yesterday. My friend had just finished making it for me, as well as an AC30. It was an interesting comparison. While they sound related, they are definately different.
On the rectifier, I tried both the GZ34 and the 2x 5V4's. Both sounded good. 2x 5V4's seemed to make the amp brighter with more headroom. I was testing the amp at all volumes, and cranked (ditorted, no master volume) I think it had more definition, or note separation with 5V4's, and was perhaps a little blurrier sounding with the GZ34. These are just initial observations.
Overall, I prefer the AC30 for pushed, and really dirty sounds, and the DC30 has a more HiFi clean sounds.
For those interested, the DC30 build uses TDS transformers, and doesn't have the bright caps connected at the moment.
