Nothing you would probably remember, just a bunch of bands of drunken college kids that played at Murphs and the Depot. 
I did know the guys in Alaska, who were a great band.  Jeff G taught guitar at Campbell's and I still hear from Eric S (keys).  I learned alot sitting in with the various tues/wed/thurs night things Eric put together and Jeff was a monster player who you could learn a lot from just watching.

I came out with a degree in psych, but really just played guitar all the time. I heard YCP entrance standards have been raised as well as academic rigor, which is probably for the best.  I got there in 1989, and it was a Rolling Stone top party school in 1988.  There were things that happened that I would not believe if I hadn't seen them myself.  I did have a great time and came out relatively unscathed. 

York's as good a place as anywhere else.

I used to gig at Murph's and the Depot and frequent Campbell's Music (if any of these places still exist- this was damn near 20 years ago).

I have a 100w HRM BM that Nik built.  I feel the noise floor is a bit high and would like someone to take a look at it (there's a bunch of hum going on with nothing plugged in).  Before I bring it to my regular guy, is there anyone in Northern NJ that has experience with Ceriatone D style circuits?

Forgot to mention that my amp is a 100w Bluesmaster HRM. 

I never use the PAB feature of my amp- I probably never will.

This got me to thinking that I have a footswitch with a switch that is not getting used at all.  What I could use footswitchable is the bright cap on the clean volume knob (it's a push/pull knob on my amp).  Is there a way to use the PAB toggle on my footswitch to turn the bright cap off and on?  Again, I don't care about losing the PAB access on the footswitch.  I'd like to keep the LED functioning to tell me if it is in or out of the circuit.

My new HRM Bluesmaster setup.  I included the guitar for scale, as this was a cell phone picture sent to a friend.  I've been going smaller and smaller over the past few years, and my buddy had a hard time believing that I've been dragging a sternum-high rig to bar gigs. 

The Crex is not a dark speaker at all.  The treble is not muted, but it is never harsh.  Definately check this speaker out- it is very good at doing American tones.

The Lil Buddy (the 10" version of a Crex) on the other hand is a very dark speaker.  So I guess there is more at work than just the hemp cone.  I haven't tried Tone Tubby speakers, but i would be interested to see what they're all about (except I don't have unlimited $$$!).

I am a new Bluesmaster (and D style amp) owner (100w HRM) and have been going through a speaker listening phase as well.  I'm fortunate enough to have a bunch of 12's laying around and access to more through friends who are willing to lend me a speaker for a few days to check out.

My amp came with a cabinet with 2 Two Rock speakers.  These are good, but I feel a little muted in the high end.  What I do like is the Eminence C-rex.  I settled on a combination of a C-rex and a Canis Major (which is an alnico version of the C-rex).

The bass response of this amp is very different than the Blackface fender I have been gigging for the last decade.  I've always been a Fender guy, but this amp is like a Fender on steroids.  It does blackface, but with more of everything.   The bottom end response of this amp can get out of control quick if you put the bass knob up to 5 or more.   

I have also tried a combo of a C-rex and a Two Rock 1265 which was pretty good (but not as good as the Crex/Canis Major).  I haven't gigged that combination yet, though. 

I want to try an Eminence Red Fang in combination with the Crex or the Two Rock.  We'll see how that goes. 

If I get the chance i will post clips from gigs with different speakers- recordings don't lie (much, anyway) and give me a fairly honest answer of what my rig sounds like at 25ft or so. 

Finally- thank you for the report on the Weber 1265- I was looking at that speaker as a possibility to mix with one that I already have.  Farty bass is not one of the things I look for, though. 

Apologies if i hijacked (especially for a first post)- but I've been going through the same thing you are with speakers.

Got a used Bluesmaster HRM 100w a few weeks ago- it came with Tungsol ri power tubes- 2 of which redplated and died within a week of getting the amp.  The preamp tubes (JJ 12ax7's) were kind of noisey as well- .  It sounded fine (when it wasn't noisy), but I gig and am always concerned about the reliability of new tubes- they don't seem to last and tend to die at the most inconvienient times.  In all fairness, I have no idea how much time was on the tubes as the amp was used.  The amp was also biased really cold, but that is no guarantee that the tubes weren't abused at some point.

So I reached into my stash of good stuff and retubed with Philips 7581a's and Jan/Philips 12ax7's.  Hopefully, these'll last a long time.
