Having this amp is like being married to a high maintenance beauty. I got a Mercury Magnetics Tranny put in with a new set of tubes. For two weeks it sounded like absolute heaven. Then I turned it on this morning. Lights are on. Low hum of the PT. Tubes aglow and not a freakin thing happens when you plug a guitar into. Checked all the cables, fuses, speaker cabinet all good. Still no sound. Went through a checklist provided by Nik but I don't have the means to double check the tubes. I hope that's all it is but they're new. So doggonit! I still need a good amp tech to debug this freakin amp. I live in South Arkansas USA. Somebody? Anybody? It took me two months to find someone to put in the PT. That certainly doesn't appear to be the problem this time.

Ceriatone / Overtone / I need a repair

I cannot get a response from the specific area for this. Can anyone recommend a good tech in the southern U.S. to get in touch with. My 2008 OTS 50 watt has blown yet another power transformer. I cannot get a straight answer about exactly which part is the replacement one from Ceriatone and local techs are stumped. I have tried 3 from the list on Ceriatone's service center site and they no longer are doing it. Please help. I need to be able to speak to someone who is reputable and knows want they are doing,
Please

Please help. I need an amp power transformer fixed among a few other small issues. It wa working fine and then kerplunk...kerplooie! I have gone to the service center page of Nik's sight. Of the three within border state regions, one has passed away, one no longer works on amps, and the other hasn't responded in days to my e-mails.
I am a techno dunce so there is no way I can do it. Please help. This amp has been down for quite a while now. I've also sent it to two techs that don't do Ceriatone specifically and they cannot fix it.
I live in South Arkansas USA.
I really appreciate any help you could offer.

Website, Store / Support / Replace Power Transformer in 2008 50w OTS
|
on: March 31, 2014, 03:39:19 PM

Can anyone tell me what power transformer options are the correct ones for an '08 OTS 50 watt. Mine just died last week. Please offer model numbers in your answers. I am no tech guy but am having a tech fix it. I want to buy the part myself to avoid the upcharge and view options before hand.
All help appreciated. I got it fully built form Nik if that helps. Please keep it simple.
Thank you, K. Hickman

I got a lotta looks but no advise. Actually, I am glad. I had the opportunity to open her up for a few days...changed my mind. Tone just doesn't get any better than that!

I have a 50 watt OTS, Avatar 2 x12 Speaker cab with Celestions (GH30 and Vintage 30), Klienulator and cables (am going to keep my neunaber reverb pedal) I am looking to sell all together. All in mint condition never played out. I bought it in the late fall of 2008. It still has the original tubes in it. It has a gain pot mounted in the back in the way of a mod. It sounds fantastic but I am a bedroom player. To open it up is not something my wife thinks highly of. It just sits. I really just need a lower wattage combo amp.
The question I have is what is a good selling price for the lot. I am not in a hurry but do want to sell it. Will probably try locally first.
I really don't know so I thought someone here could tell me. I want to move it but obviously would like a fair price. It just sits there in the corner looking sad.
Regards and thank you, Casken

Bump! Anyone? I am a bit short of funds so it may be a bit before I can get it fixed. Drive channel out for now. Will it hurt to play the clean side until fixed?

I appreciate the insights. I was hoping it may be an inexpensive tube issue they are quite old and that certainly would be a possibility. I didn't know if that would be a sudden and total stop if a tube was responsible. I will also check the footswitch. Thank you again.

Ceriatone / Overtone / drive channel doesnt work

I have a factory built ots about five years old. Today i sat to play a bit stepped on the footswitcj for some dirt....red light on...amp went silent. Switched it off and clean channel sounds gret! I am no tech and will have to hire one. However it would be nice to have an idea as to what would cause this. I double checked all amp settings and it oughta sing. Thank u in advance.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone special with single coils

A few things from an admitted bit of a hack...but I am a tone snob.
Much of this has been mentioned and I may have missed the others.
1) Volume (far left) has to be 7ish or better. It will fatten a single coil up. Without it its kinda lackluster to me too.
2) Speakers? I am using Celestion mixed pair G12H30 and Vintage 30 from Avatar. Great bass response.
3)I tend to temper the presence a bit around midway or less
4)Guitar:I use Kinman AVN blues pups on my strat with a SD Pearly gates in the bridge with nickle 11s.
5) The Kleinulator or equivalent is essential. It tames the beast and is part of that great tone. I add a reverb and delay in the loop.
6)Settings: If it sounds thin to you go more bass. Mine is 6 to 7 with a Strat and 5ish on the treble. I am using the bright switch up and rock on with the fat switch off. Bright switches on on Kleinulator. The tone is very sweet...clean is better, however. I think this is a good amp for a Strat but you have to drive the volume on the guitar to collect the OD. Otherwist the single coils don't speak loudly enough. I ALSO TURN THE INTERNAL GAIN UP TO AROUND NOON TO 1 O'CLOCK...Nik put an outside adjustment for me. Admittedly it goes Vintage Marshall or similar in tone but that ain't a bad thing!
7) Now, having said all that...Personally I think the OD is better with an LP. To me anyway. I prefer the Strat cleans though.
