Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Single G12-65 with the standard OTS amp

John, I understand your premise but, for me, I seldom get a chance to mike anything at gigs. So, I like the open back cabs more for my purposes. I used to use a Boogie 1 12 Thiele cab pretty regular and also a 1936 Marshall. While I liked the sound, and I know it projected to the audience well, and was punchy for sure, I couldn't hear them well overall for the bars, small stages, etc that I had/have to deal with. So back to the semi open cabs for me. That's why I'm concerned about a speaker in question having some thump in an open back application.

Ok, thanks...........+1 on the floorish position. I always strive to do that whenever possible. Like to have the punchiest sound possible. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you know, sometimes on small stages, you gotta put 'em a chair and angle up, to be able to hear, etc........

So, I take it from reading this post that this device will have positive tonal effects, even with no items brought in line with it? I'm happy with my pedalboard as is. And, I don't use any rack type effects so, I'm wondering if it's worth the $150 or so, to get this. Can someone in the know impart some info please?

Thanks John. After poking around a bit on the web, I'm wondering if the 65 would even be suitable for me. I'm seeing where many folks like the 65 in pairs or in a 4 12 but not necessarily used on their own. Now lookin' at 100 watt Celestions instead. I was using a JBL E120 before, but that's really not working for me in the oversized 1 12 cab I have. To edgy, etc............ Looking for a warmer tone.......with some bottom end punch as well....... I would add that this is my first foray into the world of HAD clones, etc.......... It's a whole different deal in working this amp thru it's paces. The volume diffs on the channels, the tone system, all very different from what I'm used too. But, I'm working thru all these things and gigging with the amp to feel it out. It's definitely a different beast than what most folks out gigging are using. That's one of the things that attracted me to it.

Has anybody using a 1 12 setup with the G12-65 speaker in use, had any issues with blowing the speaker, the speaker not being able to deal with the power of the amp, etc? I've got a big fat JBL E120-8 in now and I want to move to a smoother, darker sounding speaker. The JBL's kinda edgy sounding. And, sometimes I play gigs where the amp's gotta be driven harder, to keep up with loud drummers, etc. Thanks.

Wow..........that's pretty wild............I'm tryin' to look towards something totally internalized. Strictly for footswitching the onboard functions in and out in addition to the existing 2 functions. Jazz/Rock, Deep, Bright, etc to just go on/off..........and with a more sturdy jack to do it with...........in reading on some other forums, looks like it is gonna be pretty damn involved to accomplish..........

I've seen some discussion in here concerning moving to another type of connector for the footswitch (which is also very desirable to me, not crazy about the DIN type). But, I'm wondering if anybody has actually added more "footswitchability" to their OTS. I'm talkin' a 4 way switch, or more, doin' possibly the deep switch, bright, jazz/rock, etc...........in addition to the 2 functions now in the standard footswitch. Reading the Guitar Player mag piece on Sonny Landreth reminded me of my previous day dreaming of making this all happen. Only, Sonny (lucky bastard), has his off with HAD gettin' it done (must be nice ;-)

I thank everyone for their advice. I guess the bottom line is that, this is a very different amp than all the standard amps I've owned over the years. I'll be gigging with it this weekend for the first time. So, should be interesting how it projects, sounds, feels, etc in front of a crowd. And, finally being able to turn it up for an extended period of time ;-) Now, I'm gonna post about footswitching mods, etc............

No, I've experimented with that already. I'm gettin' absolutely nothing on the treble control with that on but, some results on the mid. Like I was sayin' if that's the way of this amp, then, so be it. I haven't had a gig since I got it so, no chance to try it live yet. I, like I'm sure many around these various forums, haven't had an opportunity to try out the real thing. So, we lurk and take notes. Then, order............ It would definitely be cool if someone with intimate knowledge of the theory of build, circuit knowledge, etc.......wrote a manual for this thing............. I see what the sonic results are by twiddling the knobs but, not what it's "supposed to do". Thanks............

Recently got an OTS in as a chassis. It's sittin' on top of some Shakespeare books on top of an oversized 1 12 cab (open back, HAD style), with a JBL E120 loaded. I'm awaiting the cab for the chassis, etc. Maybe what I'm seeing is by design but, gotta ask. I'm noticing some, shall we say unconventional things going on with the tone related controls and switches. 1)Overall, I don't see much effect of/by the treble control. I see some in the jazz position. But, nothing in the rock position. 2)The bright switch seems also to have little, to no effect on things in any position unless maybe the presence is wide open. I guess maybe, if this is all by design, I'm just used to amps with tone controls that drastically affect the sound of the amp in question. Any input greatly appreciated. BTW, sure would be nice if one of our more learned brethren would formulate an owners manual for this amp

I have a JBL E120 that I've used in many combo amps I've had for that past 13 years or so. I think I'm going to put that in a 1 12 cab and see how it goes. I wonder if anybody else has tried this speaker out with the OTS. I think I'm gonna want a ported 1 12 cab. I'm also curious what folks here are using for their cabinet of choice in a 1 12 format.
