1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone Soundclips on: February 15, 2008, 06:35:31 PM
Thanks - once again! Very nice clips and tasteful playing from both of you Marin and Sami  Cool. That clean clip was really something "fresh point of view" to this amp. Almost everybody seem to be hunting something Robben Ford or/and Larry Carlton tones from this amp. My humble opinion (which is based only listening those enjoyable clips -LOL) is that this amp can do very different and good sounds and rest is in your fingers and brains. Is that inside OD-trimmer difficult to tweak? Do you have to take chassis out of cabinet before trimming it? I rather sure my Vox AC30 CC2X gotta go... I NEED something else - guess what  Wink Wink

Many thanks to SpM  Smiley Those clips are very enjoyable. Do You get those sounds playing (how) loud or at "bedroom level"? What does HRM Overtone clone mean (kotisivuillasi oli viittaus  Lips Sealed)? You have very nice gear around there (my GAS is getting worse and worse  Grin). Keep on sending clips for us to enjoy Your tasty playing and wonderful amp(-s)!

Thank You for vid`s (both of)! Nice amp and nice playing too. I like very much. Do You get distorted/overdrive sounds with PPIMV in "bedroom levels", without stompboxes? How does PPIMV affect sound (increace flabbyness or something else)?

Or do Ya think Overtone S instead of Overdrive S Wink ? I wild guess is thet it could be "the best of both worlds". Still waiting soundclips in Overtone section or somewhere. Hope they are not too wonderfull Grin , cause there are any on the market. I think that Nik is too polite! How about Your Tokai LS125? I`m GASsing LS150.

"You got that right"! I`ve seen same "problem" or characteristic among too many jazz players. Mister Shofield used to use Vox AC30, which are very (too) loud but has nice shimmering versus SS`s "cold" sound. I guess nowadays he plays with Mesa Boogies. Many jazzers like Bassman amp too. My personal research has led me toward  JTM45 or TW Liverpool, both with some mods/tweaks. But I like little dirt in my jazz. Opinions?

Hello Smiley
You have lots of nice gear Embarrassed. I´m interested in TW Liverpull (what name Chair Dance) too. Did You order Your one "in stock"? Not any "tweaks" or mods (power scaling, PPIMV or ½-power switch or something)? I`d like to hear Your impressions, when You got the amp. I´m thinking JTM45 with PPIMV (and some "tweaks" for "too bassy thing") or TW Liverpull? My goal is shimmering cleans (like Vox) and kind of old (gutsy and punchy, not modern) Marshall overdrive sound and not (too) much volume in same amp same time. Maybe I need two amps  Huh? Huh?

Thank You all the answers. Is there anybody knowing if PPIMV is all way down (or up) is sound same as JTM45 without PPIMV? Pure it`s shimmering shine and glory Wink!

Thou I come from north Europe southern bluesrock is something for me.  ;)I was first class in high school in 70`s when heard first time Allman Bros, Lynyrd Skynyrd and old ZZ Top. That was exactly the sound what I hear inside my head. In 90`s several years I listen only classical, Sibelius and Bach mostly, but "new" ABB with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks took me back "Where it all begins". Jazz is also fun music, including bepop and hard pop, and it`s very "stimulating" to play it too Tongue Tongue

Hello You All and thanks Kitarist, nice forum! Cool

I`m GAS:ing for JTM45, but have heard they are very loud amps! I play kind of jazz (with  acoustic instruments) and bluesrock (with band), so nice cleans means lot. My current amp is VOX CC2X - it does cleans very well but for bluesrock I can`t find that warm crunch/OD-saund I`m looking for even with pedals. Does PPIMV "eat saund"? It is (PPIMV) bypassable if turn it off/on? Does Nik do this mod? Speakers suggestions (2 x 12" or 4 x 10")?
