Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Bring back the Overtone

Chris, I don't doubt that Scott knows what is talking about, but when he mentions comparing apples to oranges, it conjures up interpretations that one product maybe superior to another. We should all avoid making any such claims unless one has actually done an A/B comparison. I questioned whether he has done this?
Cheers

I agree with TimD, I think the difference will be more phsycological than it will be audible. Don't be fooled by your own conviction in justifying significant expense in replacing components, because you will surely tell yourself that the investment does sound better .... are you really sure it does?

Becarefull about putting a DC30 into a combo cab, the EF86 has a tendency to be quite microphonic and can be affected by audio feedback (just like a microphone), you might hear tube rattle or squeeling in the EF86 channel at high volume. Better to put a DC30 into a head cab.

ScottL makes a lot of claims or are they assumptions? .... I wonder whether Scott has tested/compared a Ceriatone Overtone with "the real deal"? If he has then maybe he should share his finding with us.
I have tested an Overtone, can't say if it is anything like a Dumble, but it rock's. I've just ordered one, if you try ordering one too from Nik, I am quite sure he will build one for you too.

Save your money, if you want to downgrade to TDS or Westlabs transformers they will probably be double the cost of Nik's transformers and I don't think the difference if any will be that significant.
Often when we purposely make change, the result is phsycologically skewed, because we went to great effort or significant cost to implement change, we convince ourselves that change will be better and of course when you implement change you truly believe it is now better.
The only real answer here is to do an A/B test between one product and another, otherwise the result is too personally objective.
