I did this.

I built my 100w version with an 022699. Looks like Mr.D also used that one in 50W amps like #40.

Here is #124 with the deep switch before it was modified in 1988 to have a mid boost.

Looks good!

Thats some pretty funky wiring.

Basically the Dumble way was to use a switch to break the path to ground for one tube on each 'side' of the phase inverter. As a bonus if you hook a LED and resistor to two of the tubes that will shut them off and make the LED light at the same time.

My impression has been that Nik wired it that way to the coil is not energized for OD, incase any noise should be transmitted from the relay's coil.

Real Dumble foot switches require the OD and PAB relays to be hooked up so that the relay coil is energized when in the OD or PAB mode. I have wired my amp that way.

Here is a drawing I did showing how the OD relay is wired on a real 1980s vintage ODS. This is the way I have mine wired and it is different from the Ceriatone.

I have compared the effects of my 50/100 switch with the 3db increments on a power attenuator and the effect is about the same. So on my amp the  50/100 switch DOES make it twice as loud.

Can you report what voltages you are getting?
9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What the #@!%&*%#???? on: August 20, 2008, 05:37:31 PM
Relays plugged in correctly? Wired correctly? Should be some little mistake somewhere. Good to know the power section is fine, that narrows it down a lot.

Although extensively modified, this started life as an Overtone kit.

Where did you get the new faceplate? That looks awsome!! Also is that he standard Ceriatone Head Cab?

I got my chassis at a swap meet, but I am sure it is originally from here: http://vasinguitaramp.tripod.com/id4.html

I modded the original Ceriatone Head Cab by adding the corner protecters, changing the handle, adding Fender-style grill cloth and changing the aluminum strips.

Innards....

the innards look pretty gooey haha Smiley

what was the point of that?

Only HAD knows Wink

Actually, the large capacitors are only held to the board with the glue. The smaller capacitors are all supported on the glue, my guess is that it keeps strain off the component leads. I believe HAD used silicone glue, because it is removable, if needed. The amp that mine was replicated from was de-gooped at least once by HAD to change over to Skyliner, and then probably re-gooped. There are about 3 different colors of glue on that amp.

As to why only the preamp is totally covered in glue (and not the PI, or other boards) I don't know, but there is glue under every capacitor on every board.

Do you have the full 124 schematic?
