Hey Everyone,

So my order with Nik is in, and have ordered a OTS Combo shell from Gabkits. Looking at and listening too speaker choices... leaning toward the NOS EVM 12L from valveamplification.com but Rich at Valve Amplification mentioned the following:

"...make sure what ever amp you put them (the EVM 12L) in has the space for the large magnet and thick cast frame."

Any chance anyone has put a EVM 12L into a Gabkits OTS combo, successfully or unsuccessfully?

Hello Everyone, just ordered an OTS from Nik, very psyched but my head is spinning....

Did i get the right Amp in the non-HRM OTS? My concern sprung out of looking at speaker choices and whether of not to make a combo? My ear is telling that the EVM is great for the kind of sounds i like but at bedroom to small club volume I'm concerned about the gain, will it be enough? I will have a C-Lator in the loop...

The reason i decided to order the OTS over the HRM was as follows: I've listened to a ton of clips on Youtube (thanks marinblues and everyone) and when i listen to the HRM clips i hear a harshness that i don't hear with the OTS. Not sure if I'm imagining this...  Moreover it seems like the OTS does the singing driven tone extremely well, and though the HRM does this too, it does not do this quite as well. And lastly since i have a hot rodded Marshall that i love, I thought, "get the amp that does the Dumble tone extremely well and bi-amp with the Marshall.... as opposed to the versatile all in one Dumble style amp"

So you know where i'm coming from as i chew on this... I play Strats, Tele's and LP's mainly. Don't run much for FX, usually a touch of delay in the loop and a booster or overdrive in front that compliments the amp in different frequency ranges... and as for what i play: mostly Modern Blues, Blues Rock, into Classic Rock and i will occasionally go for something heavy(ish). Roots are very cliche really: Hendrix, Zep, Floyd, (old) Aerosmith, (old)Van Halen. Lately it's been Albert King, Bonamassa, Robben Ford, KW Sheppard

If you were to summarize the differences between various OTS's and the players that might choose each, what would you say: OTS, S&M-OTS, HRM-OTS and Bluesmaster-OTS

Sorry for the lengthy post, i'm a tad over caffeinated but am very interested in folks input

Did some research on the Ethos after seeing this post... Cost new is around 400 USD, waiting list is over a year and just watched one go on EBay for 610 USD (the TLE version). Crazy

First post... been researching D-Style Amps, corresponding with Nik, and reading and listening to everything i can find, at least so far.

Going through older posts here i came across people talking about a burn in period for the OTS, where there is some harshness until you run the amp for 30-50 hours.

I'm wondering (as a complete noob) what folks experience with this is and what is really meant by "burn in". What component(s) are actually heating up and burning in....
