Folks!

Try this, I did it too, except the master volume pot change. Sounds full and pleasing with a Greenback and Scumback H75 (aged G12H30 clone) speaker.

And I did change the OT to a WestLabs 30W, with black standup end bells. I love the fullness of that OT.  Whatever you dial in, it won´t sound bad  Grin

and doesn't have the bright caps connected at the moment

Can you please explain? A somewhat graphical explanation with my eyes on  the layout.

BTW, does the TDS transformers have end bells?

Kind regards, Tonebuddy

Interesting. I have never tried that. I wonder if it is pointless? Does it change the sound...
Ask Nik, please.

+1 on two 5V4 (GZ32) rectifiers. The "CUT" control works better all the way, with the master volume bypassed.

5 1/2 months long tube rolling test;
 I have tested about 30 different preamp tubes, and four power tubes... my personal taste for tubes are (from first  to last) V1 Nos Mullard ECC83 (I61 batch very musical sounding) V2 Groove tubes 12AX7R2 (I think it is really a Sovtek 12AX7LPS long plate, which keeps the clean channel rhythm sound, particularly the bass and lower mid together and cuts off excessive highs).  V3 NOS Mullard EF86 (silverplate) V4 Groove tubes 12AX7R2.

Power tubes;
NOS russian military grade 6p14p-EB 10000 hr long life with a good sound!
(I  have  also tested my own Mullards, Siemens , JJ , Philips Miniwatt, Tungsram)

Rectifier tubes;
Two english made Philips GZ32. GZ32 gives a "rounder" sound
-> britpop, country, country-rock and blues.

Speakers in 2x12 4 Ohm open back cab;

Scumback H55-8Ohm  and a chinese Greenback-8Ohm

 I have gone trough them all, Celestion greenback,G12H30 Heritage, Celestion blues, Celestion lead, G12H100, G12- 75, Fane speakers and all possible combinations of these....

Guitar(s);
 Stratocaster Jimi Hendrix clone with Fender Voodoo (neck and middle) Lindy Fralin Vintage hot bridge pickup, ... and occasionally a Les Paul style Heritage H-150 CM

This was my personal view of a good sounding DC-30.
