Ceriatone / Overtone / How Can I Brighten Up My 100 Watt Bluesmaster?
|
on: July 11, 2015, 08:10:21 PM
|
Hey guys,
So I love my Bluesmaster but I find I have to put my Treble & Presence on 10 as well as pull the "Bright" switch in order to get that nice chimey tone I love. This is with single coils. I generally disengage the tone stack but I'd like it to be useful as well.
My question: Is there a simple mod I can do to change the arc of the tone stack? I love the bass on this thing but I need more brightness!!!
I've read a few things about changing the values of the slope resister. Some are for this, some are against it. Is there any other type of simple mod such as changing the value on a particular capacitor?
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / Re: Ceriatone Superlead Tonal Differences by Year, 67, 68, 69, 70, 73

I emailed Nik and here are his answers if anyone is curious:
My Questions: 1. Which year has the tightest Bass response? The bass response is about same, but the '67 would probably have most, with the shared cathode, and more bass-like circuit.
2. Which year has the most Gain '72 would, with the 100K/4ohm NFB setup, and the preamp
3. Which year has the most headroom? About same, except perhaps the '72
4. Do they all have the same size Transformers? Yes, we use the same trannies on them
5. Which year is the brightest sounding? Bright wise, doesn't matter - see the layouts. We have put bright switch on this, so you can choose whether to have the bright cap or not.
But, if selected, the 72 would be it, as it selects 4700pf cap, the biggest amongst all these.
The trick is, not to use the Marshall while setting Vol pot (bright) low - it'd be bright sounding
As you turn up the pot, the bright caps gradually get defeated, but still maintaining focus and gain.
Nik is really quick & thorough with answering my (endless) questions. I really don't know anything about electronics so this was REALLLLY helpful.

Hi,
I've been "almost" buying a Ceriatone plexi for several months now but I really want to know what the differences in tone are for the different year/specs Nik is offering.
Which one has the tightest bass response?
Which one has the most gain?
Which one is the brightest / darkest?
Which one has the most headroom? (Or are they all the same in that regard?)
Do they all have identical transformers?
Can you really tell the difference once they're all cranked?
I know I can email Nik but I always feel like a pest when I do that lol.
Cheers

Ceriatone / Overtone / HRM Bluesmaster - Can I Put EL34's in it?
|
on: December 07, 2014, 11:39:16 PM
|
Has anyone tried this with the Bluesmaster? Can the trannies handle the EL34's? I keep thinking it will sound a little more marshally if I swap out the power tubes.
If anyone has any insight on this I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

Website, Store / General / Re: Best Cleans From a Ceriatone EF86 Amp? Which One?
|

In truth I want about 9 or 10 Ceriatone amps. I guess I'm just figuring out which one to buy first lol.
I searched the amps last night and it looks like there's only 3 models that use the EF86 front end. I think the Dizzy 30 is the one I would go for. Do you know if you're able to Jump the channels on this amp?
Has anyone here tried both the Dizzy 30 & the Marshall 36/18 watt Ef86 amps?

Your son is one lucky young man.
I was playing a Quest Attak 5 through a Peavey Bandit 65 when I was 13..... and I thought it sounded good lmao. Things have changed since then.

Officially, you still pay duty. You pay duty according to country of manufacture, not country of sale. That may depend entirely on what the mailing label says (country of origin is part of it) and how carefully they look over an item from the States. From the days I lived in Vancouver, packages to and from the U.S seemed to draw far more scrutiny that anything I got from Europe. That's right, Country of manufacture, I had forgotten that part. That leads me to another question, are the Ceriatones purchased from the US site manufactured in the US? Either way I've got my eye on either the SSS or one of the Overtone Specials. It's all I can think about lately lol. Which one do I get? Can I get both? Should I get both? Can i afford to? Does that matter? lol Cheers

How about the "Cryogenically treated" tubes?
LMAO, so If i pay MORE money for the same tubes these guys will freeze them, thaw them out, and then sell them to me?
What? Does it get rid of ice pick lol? What a joke. At some point people need to remember that it's about PLAYING the guitar, not just buying magical parts for it.
