Hey, I have a 50 watt overtone special. When I turn it on from standby I get a rhythmical ticking noise coming through my speaker cabnets. Great if I want an inbuilt metronome however I don't. Has anyone else had this problem? Or know of a solution?

Thanks Madgringo!

Just a point of interest. I blanked over the front ports in my cabs so basically running fully sealed oversized enclosures and the difference in sound was exceptional. It tightened up the sound and made it alot more focused. Starting to get close to the sound that I envisioned I would get.

The issue I had all along was the front ports not the pickups and those pickups sure do bark and growl. You won't be dissapointed with this amp the range of sounds is wide and varied and all good. I will look forward to comparing notes with you in the future.

Hi KV

I am using TV Jones Classic pickups. Not sure how close they are to filertrons. They produce a pretty hot signal which can be hard to control with this amp. I like it personally but it is not like the classic overtone sound that many other forum users here are posting (yet!).  I am still working on getting my sweet spot on the clean channel on the amp.

Hi Hywel,

You are more than welcome to this cab design. Basically Kevin's design works by taking a standard 4 x 10 cab and removing 2 speakers. These open front ports also project sound forward. The only other thing that he mentions is to make the cab at least 16" deep. I can provide dxf files to cut a 2 x 12" cab from a sheet of plywood on a router if required and you can modify to suit a 2 x 10".

My overtone finished at last
Speaker Cabs are:
2 x 12" eminence cannibas rex and private jack
1 x 15" eminence legend 1518
Both cabs are based on a Kevin O'Connor front ported design

Cheers
