1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Calling all OTS Owners: What pedals and what music are you playing on: April 21, 2012, 12:41:50 PM
I'm a rental, so play all sorts of music ranging from folky singer/songwriter stuff to metal. Apart from the metal gigs for which I use a Randall I use the HRM for everything live.

The two chains are:

guitar > TC Electronic Polytune > Area 51 Wah >Digitech Whammy > Keely modded TS-808 > Amp

send > George Dennis Volume > TC Electronic Nova Systems > return,  and that goes through the Kleinulator as well.

and if needed I can also hook up a Heil Talk Box
2  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What pedals are you guys using with your Overtones? on: August 19, 2011, 08:28:46 AM
Guitar -> TC Electronic PolyTune -> Area 51 Wah -> Digitech Whammy -> Keeley modded TS-808
Kleinulator -> George Dennis Volume -> TC Electronic Nova System

Clean channel for clean,  with  the TS-808 for overdrive, and with the Nova Boost for clean leads.
Overdrive channel with TS-808 for leads.

@Nigel T.

Nik stated that he will NOT ship out kits, only his team will assemble the amp.

Shame, I'd love the kit!
Thanks, I hadn't read that.

I'm interested, but I'd have to find someone to assemble it in the Netherlands. So far my HRM works great Smiley
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: alexander dumble on: October 25, 2010, 08:19:51 AM
All this talk of investment... Aren't you doing it wrong? Invest in gold, oil, whatever. An amp or a guitar is there to be played. If you buy a Dumble and lock it up out of scratching fear you wasted a bunch of money in the (not unreasonable) hope the investment will pay out. In the meantime the Dumble or the rare Gibson Les Paul is becoming a dustbunny.

Is there any news on this?
7  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How do you use your OTS? on: October 11, 2010, 08:31:22 AM
My pedal board consists of a Tuner, Wah, Whammy and Tube Screamer in front of the amp, Volume and TC Electronic Nova System in the loop and after it is put through a Talk Box. I use my Ceriatone for everything that has to be clean or not super saturated distortion. For the latter I use a Randall RM-4 which is output to the Ceriatone Return.
8  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Has anyone moved the internal gain pot to the outside? on: August 23, 2010, 09:25:32 AM
I think my HRM combo done by Vernet Amps (co-forumite Franc) has the gain on the back.
9  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Clean Channel on: April 19, 2010, 08:31:55 AM
So if I hear you, you use clean channel with OD pedal up front and roll back guitar volume to clean up as required then go to lead channel with OD pedal ON for solo's - please confirm - thanks!!!
Not completely. When I need overdrive I step on the TS-808, otherwise it is just the clean channel. I use EMG pickups and have to roll back the volume knob a little (from 10 to 8 or 7) to get a clean sound, otherwise it will be slightly distorted like those real old blues records where you hear an amp that is just slightly pushed. When it is time to solo I simply go to the Overdrive channel. In the extremely rare event that I need to do a clean solo I have a little boost on my Nova System that I use to just make it a little louder.

So in short:

clean passages - Clean channel, no OD
overdrive passages - Clean channel, TS-808
overdriven solo - OD channel,  TS-808
clean solo - Clean channel, Boost from Nova System.
10  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Clean Channel on: April 16, 2010, 08:12:31 AM
I use the Clean Channel almost all the time. I use a modded TS-808 as overdrive, and when it is time for self indulgent soloing I switch to the Overdrive Channel so there is en extra boost to the gain.
11  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overdrive ... Or how do you use your Overtone? on: April 08, 2010, 10:46:59 AM
OK... Let me try and explain some more. It is highly subjective as everything is with sound/timbre. To me the OD Channel is quite ragged/harsh, way too metal for my liking. For solos this is good as that extra saturation goes endless sustain, but just not for the main lead.

When I listen to Youtubes like MarinBlues I hear a very smooth overdrive, very unlike what I get out of it. When I have to play the louder variants of music (Hard Rock to (Death) Metal) I use a Randall MTS amp, and I bought the HRM especially for the "cleaner" stuff.

I don't use the PAB as I it circumvents the Tone section, for Boost I either use the Boost button on the TC Electronic Nova System (clean boost) or an overdrive pedal (overdriven boost).

My chain is as follows: guitar > Wah > Whammy > TS-808 > Ceriatone (> volume > Nova System<) > speaker
12  Ceriatone / Overtone / Overdrive ... Or how do you use your Overtone? on: April 07, 2010, 07:48:22 AM
I am interested in how you achieve your overdrive sounds. Do you use the OD channel of the amp? Or do you use a pedal on the Clean channel? Boost on or off? Etc.

The reason is that I am indecisive about the overdrive on my HRM. At the moment I use the OD channel and a Keeley modded TS-808 as a boost for solos. But I actually like the sound of the TS-808 better as a default overdrive, instead of the OD channel.

So, whatch'all say?

Interesting. Too bad I already have a new amp, but if I am in the market for a new pre-amp I will surely check 'em out.
14  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Is an Overtone something for me? Chime in! on: February 19, 2010, 09:01:30 AM
Anyway, I just ordered a 50w Special together with an oversize 2x12 cab with Celestion Heritage G12-65 speakers  Chair Dance
With Franc? Or someone else? My combo has G12-65s as well.

Now I just have to find quickly a small tube combo to gig with...  Huh?
Maybe from the Line6 Pod familly? And then straight into whatever combo is available?
15  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Is an Overtone something for me? Chime in! on: February 16, 2010, 08:42:42 AM
Yes I'm from the Netherlands! I noticed Franc now sells his version(s) of the Overtone. Do you got a Vernet or did you let Franc modify a Ceriatone? Actually, I was thinking of letting Franc build me both an Overtone and a cabinet Smiley
He made me a HRM combo from scratch. He also modded the combo before I even played it because I wanted it to be able to perform at living room levels. He also played some tricks with the speakers because I needed to be abe to insert all sorts of stuff in between the various components.

So now my guitar goes through the pedals into the Ceriatone, the Send<>Return loop goes through a Kleinuator and that through a Volume and multi effect for delays and such, and finally from power out to Talk Box to speakers. When I am in extreme mode it goes from guitar to effects to Randall. The Randall has the Volume and multi effects in the Send<>Return loop, and enters the Ceriatone through the Return on the combo, power out > Talk Box > speakers and I can blast the various black metal peeps off the stage.

The only difference between these two setups is that when I solely use the Ceriatone I add a Keeley modded TS-808 as a boost and extra saturation for solos.

The HRM is completed with 2 Celestion G12-65 speakers.
