Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Lunchbox-type PCB-based ODS, Coming Soon?

Any more news on this? Sounds like exactly what I need. Looked at the schematic, I'm no electrician, but I can't see any pre-amp tubes. Is this amp going to be solid-state front end?
Hey Gyp C. welcome. This amp will be a liitle different, out of the box. The boards won't be PTP turret boards, which are Niks standard fair. The Lunch-box ODS will a PCB-based amp, with PCB-mounted pre-amp tubes.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Lunchbox-type PCB-based ODS, Coming Soon?

I heard about this on another board...
Any news (or confirmation of veracity?), as to the release of a Lunchbox-type PCB-based ODS, from Ceriatone? Supposing that this happens, they will sell like hotcakes!
This is the layout that is floating around...

Muchless / DC 30 / Re: My new DC30 build

That's your first amp build??? Wow... Great Technique.
I know of a few builders who are all for 'cork sniffer parts' and I know of others who believe it's all HYPE. What do you consider the main differences to be, when substituting the original kit parts for Allen Bradley resistors, CTS pots and Sprague caps?
Although I feel that soldering technique, lead dress and value substitution/ tweaking are more important than 'component brands'... I'd like to know what your impressions are, with regard to the main differences between the aforementioned components and the standard kit parts.
Thanks, Rob

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout

Thanks hywelg,
That's exactly what I thought.
The whole reason that I thought of this set up is because of Brad Paisley (whose tone I adore). He plays a Dr. Z Stangray Amp with a Zen Drive Pedal. The Zen Drive is a Dumble-type pedal...
So, I figures I'd try to put "A" and "B" together. You know 1 and 1 is 2.
I'm gonna look into this further, then.
Thanks,
Rob

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout

Hi there, Thank you for all the responses and e-mails in regard to the Overdrive Special schematic (especially mcinku and ttt). Recently, I finished my first scratch build (with a lotta help from Pops), a Dr. Z Stangray Clone, which is my Clean "grail tone". The Stangray is more-or-less Vox AC-30 "inspired" amp with a Matchless Cheiftain mid control.
However, what I was hoping to do was add the Overdrive Special OD circuit with a relay to function as a 'lead channel'. Is this feasable? If so, what parts of the schematic should I ignore? Thanks, respectfully, Rob Salinger

Does anyone have a layout/schematic for the OD preamp section of the OTS? ...or know where I could get one?
Thanks, Rob

Muchless / Lightning / Lightning vs. Creme Brulee

Hi There,
Could someone elaborate on the sonic differences between the Creme Brulee and Lightning, as as the youtube clips I've seen are rather poorly recorded. I'm looking for a bright Jangly/Twangy project to build.
Thanks, Rob

Muchless / Lightning / Lightning Chassis Dimensions

Hi There,
What are the Chassis Dimensions for the Lightning? I presume that the same chassis is used for both the Lightning and Creme Brulee.
I've got an old Mesa-style 1x12 cabinet that I would like to use.
Cheers, Rob

Hmmm... I like different players for different reasons.
Cream era Clapton. Tom Scholz of Boston fame. Jeff Heally. Stevie Ray. Junior Brown... love that twang!
However, if I had to pick just one, it would be a toss up between Steve Cropper and Tim Pierce.... go figure, two studio musicians.
Cheers, Rob

Website, Store / General / Jeff Healey-like Tones...
|
on: April 24, 2009, 03:54:30 PM

Hi,
I'm new to the forum. Although, I've been "reader" for quite some time.
I am quite a fan of Jeff Healey's tone on See The Light. Can someone suggest an amplifier kit? 50w or thereabout would be ideal.
Cheers, Rob
