Both of them are really great looking cabinets, I just love a walnut.

That's also the reason why I choose a walnut for my custom built tele.
Not to mention it sounds good as well.

You ordered yours in November, right?
 Shocked

That was a long wait for you. I hope I'll get mine sooner than that.

Let us know, when it comes and we expect a review.

not as lucky as the one waiting for his overtone!  Wink

 Grin  You got me there.

take a flight here and pay him a visit then!  Grin

I would definitely like to do that but if I would have that kind of money in my hands, I would probably buy another amp from Nik.
...and I guess, he would be happier that way as well.

I like this comment from SRV about ODS amps...

You 've got to know what you 're doing with them, because they'll get away from you and take you with 'em."

... and which guitar did you use to record that clip?
998  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / Re: 5E3 Tweed Deluxe SoundClips on: February 08, 2008, 07:23:18 PM
First of all, that's one hot looking amp .... just beautiful !!  Shocked

You caught the soul and character of that amp perfectly on that recording, especially with the clean to slight overdriven sound.
So you like Celestion sound with these amps too. I use a Greenback with mine and I think it works well with this amp.

Great playing too BTW.

hey.. i don't think i can get a gut shot as i'm near useless with screwdrivers and stuffs.. would need to open the cab enclosure to access it..

im using celestion vintage30s in it.. nik put that in by default.. how high do you crank the amp to be able to get an overdriven sound from it? i rarely get the chance to crank it full in normal non-tweed mode.. it sounded clean then too

i implemented most of your features recommendation.. 6v6 and 6L6 interchangeable with bias switch.. tried both tubes recently, and i love the clean sound on 6v6 more currently.. maybe its coz its already too loud to crank with the 6v6, and if i use the 6L6, it'd get much louder.. hows your champ currently? done anything new to it?

OK than, if you open it someday... take that photo  Wink

Yes, in a BF mode it stays clean up to 7 (out of 10). If I go over that, nice overdriven sound kicks in and If I go up to 10, it's almost to much for my liking.
That little sucker is loud as hell isn't it. A lot of people gig with it no problem (mic is a must of course). I took it once to the band practice and it was a little shy but I had to compete with 100W Twin  Shocked
My champ is still as it was, I think it sounds cool as is, so I don't plan to do any other mods to it.

Hey, when you were at Niks place, did you see any Overtones waiting around for shipping. I'm waiting for mine and I'm impatiant as hell.

Thank you very much for these mods...
I prefer brighter sounding guitars (start, tele, even HB) and mods like these can be useful.

Can you elaborate a bit more what each mod actually does?
 Huh?

I didn't know much about this Dumble stuff before as well, except these amps cost a fortune. I'm however in love with Robben Ford's tone, he is one of my favorite players.
At first, when I saw Nik is offering this amp I was thinking, can this amp do it.
...and when I saw those youtube vids, I just placed an order.  Grin

I don't delude myself, I know I won't sound like RF but like you said, the platform is there.

just picked up my champ amp from nik's office a little over a week ago.. had been playing with it whenever i got the time, so haven't really got a chance to post about it here!

anyways, great lil amp, found lots of headroom in it, and for a bedroom player like me, lots of volume!! had only cranked it up to full volume on normal mode in the afternoons when i'm at home and not occupied with uni classes.. nearly blew me away since i was sitting right in front of it!

thanks mcinku for helping me decide on this amp!

Yupeee  Chair Dance HNAD !!
You are welcome. Wink

So, did you go for the 6L6 option as well, I guess you did... if I understand your "normal mode" term. Which speaker do you use? Can you do a gut shoot for me... I'm really interested to see how Nik implemented this feature.
Anyway, I'm glad it works for you.

Hi Wyatt,

nice to see you here  Wink
I agree with everything you said except one thing...

Mcinku did it right and built the amp ...

Nik did it and not me, I just told him what I want.
