I recommend a Greenback for 5E3, I really like how it sounds with my 5E3... and not as expensive as the Blue I might add, although blue would probably sound awesome. I see you're from Australia... I've heard Lorantz speakers are not so bad choice as well. I never heard those, just sharing some ideas.

Why the patch cable in the loop?
I think the goal is to reduce the hi-end a little bit. The cable with its capacitance acts as a filter. I read somewhere Robben Ford is using the same trick. I think.

I never said that they were single coils....or did I? M. No you did not. I just thought... ...well, Sami did a clip using SC (apart from that 335). I was praising that sound and than you did a clip with your tele, which is good as well just not SC. That all what I wanted to say. Sorry for teasing you.

Those are the one-and-only Joe Barden pickups. Marin Hmmmm, lovely pickups but not SC, you see Sami BTW what guitars did you use? Tele looks like '52 and strat is a Suhr but which model?

Marin nice tone as well but you are cheating man. It looks like a tele but with those single-coil-size "rails" humbucker... that's not a tele in my book. ...or am I seeing things

Yep .. amp is stock on those clips. Only cable between guitar and amp. ...(and short batch cable on loop). Cab is bruno 2x12 and Speakers are G12-65
Man that awesome... You're probably not overwhelmed by this amp, 'cause you have all this nice amps around you but man, for me this is it. I'm mainly Fender SC type and this sound is the one. ...waiting is even harder now

Please tell me your Overtone is stock (no mods) and you didn't use anything but cable to achieve this sound.
If so THAT's IT, that's the sound I'm after.
Which cab did you use, G12-65?

One of the solutions can be found here... http://www.ironsounds.com/It's a solid state effects loop kit. I don't have it so I don't know how good it is but I think it would fix that passive issue just fine. BTW welcome

Maybe something about the effect loop. ...as you probably know effect loop on the Overtone is passive. So if you want to utilize it without quality lose you would need something like a dumbleator. I found this explanation about effect loop on a ampgarage forum I believe. Very good explanation... Passive loops often have a high output impedance so just about anything you connect to the loop will load the circuit down. To make things worse, in the case of an amp like an ODS, the signal level at the passive loop wil be high and will not work with low level devices. Last, and the deal breaker most of the time, since you will have to pad down the signal sent to the effects, unless the device is very sophisticated, the loop will not have the capability to restore the gain level. So, while you may be able to make the passive loop work, you will end up with much less voume than the amp would otherwise be capable of.
