946  Custom amp building, Prototypes and other amps / Mods and Tweaks / Re: Overtone Tweaking on: March 05, 2008, 10:51:59 AM
... but I don't know where the pre od resister is.

The resistor is North of OD 100K trimmer.

If you take a look at the OD tube V2 (layout) and go from pin 2 (grid), first you will find a 68K resistor, than 100K trimmer and than 150K ("pre OD resistor").
All those resistors/trimmer are known as a pre OD netwoork and Chris is talking about that 150K resistor.

Does that help?

Looking forward to that.

It's the 100k trim pot at the input of V2.

V2 is the center tube-correct Grin Undecided
And thanks Chris.

Yes, the center preamp tube.

This is different from the generally accepted dumble layout. Are you guys interested in getting closer to what the "standard" is?

What is the "standard"?

Aren't all of those amps tweaked in a some way.
To me, the goal is to make it sound good, whatever the layout is.

A few questions about the layout:

It looks pretty straightforward except fo the 3-pin devices labeled "5K" near wire B-25, "100K" near wire B-8, and "10K" on what looks like the "FET" daughter board.  Are these some kind of center-tapped resistor?  I've never seen something like that.  Huh?

Those are trimmer pots. It's like a regular pot but these are used inside the amp.

Also, about the "FET" circuit.  Is the actual FET the grey blob in the middle of that daughter board?  If it is, I've never seen a 4-pin JFET or MOSFET like that.  I thought FETs are 3-port devices:  gate, drain and source.  Huh?

Sorry don't know about that.  Huh?

There are two connections to a "choke".  I'm assuming that the choke is an inductor mounted to the other side of the chassis as is the output transfomer.
Yes that's it.

I guess the "7812" is a 12 V voltage regulator device.
Yes

Yes I agree, this tone is best ever.

Hang in there Rui.  I have my own little bit of good news today....I ordered a couple Zendrive pedals a long while back and got a confirmation that they are done.  Woo hooo....  We'll see what all the fuss is about in a week or so.

We expect a full blown review.
