I see. Actually if get the chance to get a 2x12 cab, I wanna add bigger bottom and a little more highs to complement my G12-65. Any suggestions? I'm actually adding a Weber Neo 12 paper dome, which is a JBL D120 clone, minus the aluminum dome, of course, to my 2x12 to try to get a bigger bottom and more highs along with my 1265. I'll let you know how it goes! Gregg We seem to be going for the same thing. I'm interested with the results. And I know how detailed and fun your reviews are on your tonal experiments. Thanks Gregg.

I see. Yeah Celestions speakers typically seem to color the sound then? For example the G12-65 which I now have, seem to have a typical low midrange thing going on to my ears.

Thanks wyatt and sduck.
I emailed Nik and he said I need to remove the nuts holding the pt together contrary to what wyatt said (?), then use it to bolt it from the inside. This should re arrange the screws properly and hopefully finally fit perfectly like the pt should. Its made to fit together its an OTS 50 pt. He also advised to scrape the powder coated chassis where it contacts the pt. Is that for heat dissipation only?
Thanks again!
Well, so be it. That is contrary to instructions from most transformer manufacturers, they usually want those bell caps left on. Many, like Magnetic Components even lacquer the nuts on. Yes sir I actually read about this. I tried to loosen the nuts a moment ago and the screws can now be adjusted to fit! Also I wanna make a correction on what I though Nik said. I should just scrape to bare the screw holes on the chassis, not the whole area where the PT contacts the chassis.

Hi! I got my PT from Nik. I notice the screws are substantially closer to each other making a direct fit to the chassis hole quite impossible. Now I'm wondering if the screws are somewhat tightened slightly of from the PT's screw shafts or something and I'm wondering if I can just loosen them up, re align them, and then tighten again making sure they now align with the chassis holes. Is this a bad idea?
Also, Do I remove the nut which holds the PT together and use it to mount to the chassis? Or are there 4 nuts provided in the kit? SHould I leave the nut and mount it like that with another set of nuts inside the chassis?
Thanks a lot. You guys are the best when it comes to helping people in here! Nico

I haven't really tried one of these heavy duty clean speakers. That doesn't mean difficulty in getting overdrive on the lead channel does it?

Great though my EVM12 is, (this info for others, since you have expressed your preference) it isn't the magic answer for every amp and pair of ears I personally find mine works well with only 30-40% of my amps, and definitely not my BM50 with a strat - but I use the BM50 with low preamp gain, high master, which is not common
Did you know that Eminence do a guitar/PA speaker (which is what the EVM12 is I understand) similar to the EVM12 but much cheaper?
to at least form an opinion before buying with your own ears, try Watford valve's sound selector, which plays many speakers with the same guitar and amp
WHich eminence model are you talking about? And would the Swamp THang be in the same league?

Hi, Studio 12L is a good speaker but it has Slightly reduced mids which suites heavy metal players. Loads of lows and highs. Still no match to EV !!!. So get another EV.
Sir would this Fane be a good solution for somebody who finds an ODS/ OTS too mid heavy? I like huge sounding strat tone. EVM 12L is my choice but I'm a bit concerned about too much mids from an OTS. I'm halfway through my kit. Thanks
