I think a "British Style" logo but in white would look pretty classy on the front of an OTS...
77  Ceriatone / Overtone / Fender VM or Supersonic 2x12 Cab with OTS... on: July 04, 2009, 06:29:39 PM
So I'm trying to get an idea of how much I need to budget for my complete setup when I finally put in an order for an OTS and I'm trying to decide on what speaker cabinet to go for.

The 2 that appeal to me are the Fender VM Bandmaster or Fender Supersonic 2x12" cabinets, I especially like that I could at a later time buy another one and stack them one atop the other to get a 4x12" configuration...

Both have Celestion speakers, but neither has the G12-65's I've been reccomended to choose. The VM cabinet has a pair of G12-80's and the Supersonic a pair of  Vintage 30's, does anyone know whether either of these is suited to the OTS.

I'll be going for a 50W HRM Bluesmaster and using primarily a Strat to get John Mayer and Matt Schofield type tones...
78  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS HRM Facelate on: July 03, 2009, 07:52:29 AM
Then I would go with the walnut, like the amp in the picture, so that it gives the nice contrast.

Do you have a pic of the cabinet?

Is the Walnut or the Maple the dominant colour in the cab?

I'd tend to go for a contrasting faceplate...
80  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Ceriatone ODS for sale on eBay on: June 30, 2009, 03:58:15 PM
Just to be sure, what model is it? I mean, I know 50W, but HRM S&M or "normal"..??

And how old is it?

Also the mods you've had done to it, how do they affect the overall sound, particularly the cleans. How would you say they compare to the Two Rock you've had previously.

Finally, would you agree to collection instead of posting?

Thanks
81  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS HRM Bluesmaster - Please could someone describe the tone... on: June 29, 2009, 08:27:17 AM
If that's the case then I'm fairly sure that this is the right amp for me. I love Mayer's tone and if I could capture that myself, then I think it would be the perfect building block to create my own tone from...

Just want to be sure I'm getting the right amp..!!

Unfortunately I don't own a JM strat (I sure would love to  Grin)... my friend does. He came in, to check the amp and he brought the start along.

Men, next time I'll ask my friend if he can come (with the strat) and he'll do the playing (he's a much better player anyhow) and I could focus on the recording.
...and we could use tele, 339, strat (more than one), hollowbody, modern Seymour Duncan HB axe

now that would be fun
 Grin

Yeah that sounds like a very fun day!! It would be very much appreciated, by more than just me I'm sure.

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me how the Ceriatone 2550 (or 2555) compares soundwise to the Marshall SLX as I've played through one of those several times so it would be a good frame of reference for me.

Thanks

Okay now I have to put in a request:

Please, please, please could you do a demo of the cleans and OD sounds from your BM-HRM and your Mayer Strat - if you could play any Mayer stuff that would be perfection, but otherwise anything with that strat and the BM-HRM would be great as I have a frame of reference from owning a JM Strat in the past.
85  Ceriatone / Overtone / OTS HRM Bluesmaster - Please could someone describe the tone... on: June 25, 2009, 03:42:22 PM
I've been reading a lot about the various types of OTS and have a little bit about the HRM Bluesmaster, but really not enough that I could say "Yep, that's the one for me" or vice-versa...

Please could someone desribe the tone compared to the other OTS versions.

Also, if anyone has a Bluesmaster OTS and would be willing to post some soundclips with a strat I'd be most grateful. A brief note though, I'm not a Robben Ford/Larry Carlton tonehound, I'm more interested in the clean tones and a bluesier OD sound...

Thanks guys (and gals - just in case Wink)
86  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Can anyone offer a brief TONE summary between the different OTS types please? on: June 17, 2009, 10:51:20 AM
I would second this request. Could someone please explain the basic tonal differences between the HRM, S&M and Bluesmaster versions of the OTS...

Which is the most like a Two Rock for example..??
87  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Heads Up: New Overtone Mini 5SE on: October 28, 2008, 04:54:03 PM
Sounds like an awesome recording amp!!
88  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Is this possible? (Tweaking question...) on: October 03, 2008, 01:53:19 PM
If you gonna let it build by someone else, you can ask him to change the mid cap for you to 0.05uF. It is making the mid control over the amp more sensitive.

So I'm looking the layout from Nik's site....which cap are you suggesting I have changed? I can't see on eon the mid pot...

Also, what effect would changing the bass pot to 250k and the treble pot to 250k Audio rather than linear taper (as in a Fender AB763 circuit) have on the overall tone?

Wow, that was even quicker than Nik's usual response!!

When you say it makes it more sensitive, does that mean that it has a larger effective sweep?
90  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM or non-HRM....which to choose????? on: October 02, 2008, 12:54:30 PM
FYI - if I could get the OD sound Richie Sambora gets out of a Fender Tonemaster on the These Days album I'd be in heaven, but I long since gave up chasing that tone..!!

My two cents here!
If you are using pedals and need Sambora sound OTS is wrong amp to go.
I’ll suggest “Hay What” by Ceriatone but make sure to ask Nick to put in 6L6s instead of EL34s. You’ll LOVE IT!

I think I mislead a little bit there. I'm not looking to get the Sambora sound out of the OTS - I'm more likely to use it to find my own tone and it would be somewhere in the John Mayer/Matt Schofield area (both TR users, hence my interest in the OTS!!) who both use pedals in front of a clean D'type amp for their OD sound. My thinking is that if I have a TS808 in front of the amp and a different OD tone from the amp's other channel then that's 1 more OD sound than on a clean only amp.

Basically I want to know whether the HRM changes affect the clean sound (the answer seems to be "No") and whether the HRM OD sound can be brought close to that of the non-HRM OD channel?

Also, does anyone know whether the Two Rock Custom Reverb V2 is based around a HRM or non-HRM d'type circuit??
