Just had this quote from Nik

As for the HRM, I am locked out of the forum cant seem to remember which email address I used to register Smiley

The switch at the back was a custom. It's Marin's HRM. That's a feedback resistor switch to select no res, 4K7 and 8K2.

The standard ones dont have that.

The OD trim is indeed set at the back.

The one INSIDE is another trimmer to allow for value determination of resistor before the OD trim.

The HRM usually has 200K.

But I made the fixed resistor to be 100K + 250K trim so you can go anywhere between 100K and 350K value. Default set 200-220K total value (ie 100-120K for that trimmer).

I thought long and hard - I really dont want ppl having to mod. I wanted to put ALL switches to select values in the HRM. But, instead of buying an amp, people would be buying a fighter jet flight console instead, too many switches and pots.

One of these days, I'll do that. Perhaps the techs would be able to enjoy the "Overtone TMP" - Tweak my P....layer" Smiley ie if anyone come to them for a custom overtone, they'd be able to switch, and tweak many possible configs inside the amp.

Can you post inside the forum while I figure out the login thing? Smiley

Thanks!

Nik

678  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM Questions / toggle switch on back on: September 13, 2008, 08:25:07 AM
BTW, here's a good snap of a pull switch added to the Overdrive Level pot (3rd from left): http://www.ceriatone.com/images/completeAmpsPic/Overtone_HRM50/b10B.jpg Looks like Nik added a bright/boost to the OD section because the HRM EQ is set by internal trimmers....

Hmm missed that one. I guess thats so you can set the HRM to a warm Rf tone then add bright thro that switch if needed.

680  Ceriatone / Overtone / HRM Questions on: September 12, 2008, 06:55:37 PM
For those who know about these things since layout isn't up on the site yet!

There is now a deep and a mid switch. I guess the Pull switch on input volume is now the bright switch? (photos don't show it).

It appears the OD trimmer is now on the rear panel (thought the board mounted one is still in place), but what does the switch below it do. It appears to be a 3 position switch.

FET input is gone but are the two inputs different levels?

3 internal trimmers are I guess tmb for OD?

681  Website, Store / Suggestions / Re: Fender AB763 Vibroverb - Vote Now.... on: September 12, 2008, 11:25:29 AM
Yes the AB763 is the  ubiquitous blackface Fender used in the Deluxe Reverb, Twin reverb, Super Reverb etc etc. A head with the ability to emulate all those incarnations would be brilliant, (ie the 6v6's of the the deluxe, the 6l6s of the Super etc.)

Just been checking out the site. 2 HRM D clones and two HiWatt clones.

683  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM version on: September 12, 2008, 11:14:33 AM
Durrr, thought about it for a mo, HiWatt clones. Wow he has been busy.
684  Ceriatone / Overtone / HRM version on: September 12, 2008, 11:05:54 AM
Check it out. Niks listed two, though pics and layout aren't up yet.

685  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: not really impressed...yet on: September 11, 2008, 06:30:59 PM
Maybe it was the 120 volt shock I took last night while adjusting the OD trimmer,

You were lucky maybe next time it will be 450volts.

Take more care!

hywelg- check out:

http://www.thegigrig.com/acatalog/TheGigRig_Remote_Loopy-2.html

I am thinking along the same lines- although I don't need kleinulator- my time-based effects are buffered anyway- but this'll do the trick!

They're going to let me know when its realeased, about 6 weeks they reckon. I think though that I've got far too many 'little box of tricks'  type devices and want to get things more organised into a rack. I've just got a G-Sharp for the delays and reverbs and it will also allow me to ditch the chorus pedal from my board. This will go into a rack box (I'm going to make a matching black tolex one with nickel corners etc). I would really like the Kleinulator to go in the same rack box though the G# seems fine without a *ator, maybe a little loss of fidelity but not much. Will report back when I've rehearsed with it and ideally A/B'd it in and out of the loop.

687  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Just ordered a new Special!! on: September 11, 2008, 08:23:03 AM
New here, and about to order an overtone, have any of you guys ab'd one with other D*mble clones or maybe an original? And which speakers match up well? Greg.

I've heard a brand new OTS (read my thread about burn in time) against a TR Custom Reverb Sig and the TR sounds 'bigger'. Can't define 'bigger' but I think you'll get what I mean.

I've bought an EVM12l for mine but I'm going to pair it with a Celestion Vintage30 I think for a bit of a raw edge.
688  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: not really impressed...yet on: September 10, 2008, 10:28:00 PM
Took mine to guitar lesson first this evening played it thro a MArshall 2x12, Sounded sh*t. Then went on to a band rehearsal played it thro a Marshall compact 4x12 ( I couldn't be bothered taking my own cab) and it sounded wonderful.

Moral, you might have really crap speakers, try it with something you know to be good, but give it a good burn in period first, believe me it needs it.
689  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: not really impressed...yet on: September 10, 2008, 05:40:42 PM
I rather get the impression you bought this amp blind! Anyway. Not many use the FET channel, if you do you will need to tweak the trimmer inside to control its volume level. Just use the Normal input. When the green light is on thats when you have the Power Amp Boost engaged, which takes all the tone controls out of the circuit, deliberately to get a volume boost for soloing.

Try not to compare this to a Fender, it is very different.
HAD labeled his the 'Deep' switch thats why this amp is so labeled, it is actually a mid boost.

You will need to tweak the OD trimmer to find your chosen OD tone. read all abbout in on this forum before delving inside.

The amps will take quite a time to bed in. Leave it on for a few days.

Just search thro' these forums (yes I know ther's no search function as such) for audio clips with a telecaster and you'll be blown away.

Please don't forget this is a clone of a D* OD, criticising the functions is fairly pointless.
690  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS-Sound - severe problems /anyone have a tech in Northern Germany? on: September 05, 2008, 12:24:59 PM
I saw Marin's vids the other day. On my OTS, the strat does not sound like this, even with bass & middle on 0, and only bright & presence all the way up.

Is there some trick with the OTS also being out of phase (I read on the Fuchs-forum that their amps are; they suggest an out-of-phase cable for amp/cab connection to solve this)?

I think the OTS needs a burn in period. I couldn't get Marins clean tone when I first got my amp, now I can and its been a very gradual change. Stick with it.

I had the chance recently to hear a Matchless DC-30 which has a phase switch on the rear panel. If you had told me there was going to be such a difference in tone I wouldn't have believed you, but I heard it with my own ears. The difference is whether the speaker pushes or pulls on the first cycle. It needs to push to get the best tones. I need to try something similar on my OTS to see if it makes a difference.
